I think for one weed does have medical properties and until we reschedule it we won't be able to do cool things like have standardized dose Cannabidiol pills that would be useful for various medical purposes.
and on the recreational side. I think weed will basically be like alcohol once legalized. Sure you'd have some wastes of oxygen stoners just like you have waste of oxygen alcoholics but most people will use it socially, and I think the potency will drop as people go for more "gourmet" strains that are less potent but more flavorful/better smell, etc. Just like alcohol prohibition marijuana prohibition has caused an increase in potency because it's more efficient to smuggle. During alcohol prohibition less people drank beer and wine and more people drank liquor. Make alcohol legal again.. people go back to beer and wine socially.
Marijuana being legal recreationally would result in some weak strains being really popular as something to smoke socially without getting too fucked up, comparable to a few beers.

I'd almost be in favor of cocaine if refined cocaine had never been discovered and people were just using coca leaves in coca cola and food. Small amounts of cocaine absorbed through the digestive tract isn't going to cause much harm.
But once refined cocaine became popular.. it's too addictive, and you'll never get rid of that by legalizing coca cola's original formula again.

I agree with this at the very least. Even if you disagree with recreational use, keeping it Schedule 1 is stupid especially since Meth is schedule 2. Schedule 1 is supposed to be a containment schedule for drugs that should be illegal from the public but currently aren't used in medicine, but seems to be used to keep drugs from ever having a chance to be used medicinally.
If you're OK with ADHD meds being used to treat ADHD, or benzos to be used for the treatment of anxiety/seizures, or opioids to be used for pain, but all being illegal for recreational use, then why keep weed from being in the same category?
Our problem is that we target the supply rather than the demand. We need to target the demand. Rather than say "You can do drugs then go to rehab and be OK" we should send the message that doing drugs WILL kill you.
We should kill anyone who tests positive on two hair tests. If someone drugs someone else and that results in them getting killed by this, they should be charged with murder.
