Exactly. What Say You?

We need to strike down this stupid law about short barreled shotguns. They make excellent home defense weapons and they're even great for protection against dangerous animals.

Besides they're not all that great as offensive weapon because they just dont have the capacity. We're talking about something thats pretty much the opposite of an "assault" weapon. Big power, low penetration, low ammo.

And they dont work on the police anyway because it wont go through a vest. Its got even less penetration than a full length shotgun. Try to tag a cop with one when he pulls you over and its just not gonna work.

Only reason they got outlawed was because the Mafia was cutting down shotguns to use with their crimes. And that doesnt exactly stop people from making them. Its a prohibition issue almost a hundred years old.

Im not talking about tax stamps. Im talking about buy it from walmart kind of legal.
>>
Not happening while Obama is in office. But yeah, all these stupid barrel length bans need to go away. They aren't protecting anybody, they're just an infringement on our rights.
>>

Short barrel shotguns typically maim or cause permanent non-life threatening injuries. Also the ease of carrying one increases. Shorty shotguns are pointless as they have zero shot grouping. You'd be pointing it at a burger 10 feet away and cover more of the walls in your hallway than the actual individual.

I agree. They make the perfect home defense gun for a house in the suburbs. It sucks that Miller ruled that the 2nd Amendment didn't apply to them because they did not have military value. Heller approvingly quoted that part of Miller too, so I think the only way they are becoming legal is if congress passes a law.

This was retarded, since all NFA items are explicitly of military value and yet there are restrictions on them. US gun laws are a fucking mess.

You still need a license. You just need the easiest to acquire license.

The only firearms that do not require licensing in Canada are those that fall within Antique Status and airguns that aren't above a certain velocity AND muzzle energy (It needs to be both for them to qualify as firearms).

clearly the founding fathers intended for all guns to only be able to harvest vegan meals in the wild. So we need to ban all effective weapons immediately. Turn in your fists, shins and feet to the govt immediately. Clearly incisors were not what the founding fathers intended because humans aren't supposed to eat meat. We should have govt approved dentists mandatorily take away anyone's incisors right now and at birth and when they grow them back.

Just saw off the barrel of a shotgun and never take it out of your home. It's pretty much legal. Unless you do other shit that makes them think you'll use it. Your home is your castle. I don't know what would happen if you shoot someone with it in your house, might still be OK.

Sends 3 times the lead out the end of the barrel.

Which means 3 times the number of bleeding holes... or 3 times more likely to hit the target at 10 yards.

Doesnt Pattern?
You dont want it to. One reason for having an SBS is it spreads out really quick. That whole spreading thing is why people choose shotguns in the first place, sometimes you dont got time to aim.

By being short its easier to keep handy and easier to point in close quarters. You can keep it under your pillow, and although you probably could with a larger one, whipping it out from under the pillow could be harder.

Its better than a normal shotgun for the uses im talking about here.

>>80769773
Mentions self defense against dangerous animals.

Why buy $1500 or $2000 worth of Smith And Wesson when ultimately one of the cheapest weapon technologies we've got (Shotgun) will get the job done.

And like I just explained, a 460 or 500 S&W is actually more dangerous than a concealable shotgun and its just as powerful.

Only reason its legal and the shotgun isnt is because the bullets aren't over .50 caliber in size.

Matter of fact a 460 S&W can blow through a police officer's vest like a fucking truck. Because its a smaller bullet with the same weight and force. Smaller surface area means less armor to resist it. And it'll break his ribs at the same time too. (to my knowledge nobody has used a weapon like this to kill a cop yet)

Pistol grip short barrel shotguns are considered an Any Other Weapon (AOW) and subject to NFA restriction. The Taurus Judge uses a rifled barrel to get around that restriction.

>An AOW as defined as "any weapon or device capable of being concealed on the person from which a shot can be discharged through the energy of an explosive," other than a handgun with a rifled barrel.

>>80770658
The Super Shorty is considered an AOW and treated as an NFA item.
>>
>>80770463

Who the fuck cares?

Half of ballistics cant be tracked anyway because alot of the firearms criminals use are either stolen or straw purchases several figures down the line. And they hardly ever recover the gun that was used because they just sell it on the street again.

Tracking ballistics is just an optional benny, an added edge, and overly hyped on shows like CSI.

Near as I can tell they could barely track fingerprints back in 1934 when the NFA law was established. Much less rifling grooves.
>>
>>80770915

I always told people that revolvers were impossible to conceal.
>>
>>80770966
Why not rifle the barrel of a 12ga with an 8" barrel?
What's the worst that could happen?
>>
>>80770580
The issue has to do with Overall Length and Barrel Length rather than the pistol grip.

18.5" Barrel and I believe 26" overall.
So it can be a pistol style, just really long and front heavy.

Which kinda cunts its use as a pistol.
>>
No. If I point a handgun at you from a reasonable distance, as an untrained weapons user there's a solid chance I'm going to miss. If I point a sawn off at you I'm going to get you one way or the other. Sure, I might do a lot less harm to you than with a properly rifled weapon but 25% of the damage 100% of the time is still better than 100% of the damage 1 time in 5.

Over .50 caliber diameter (12.7mm, or if you're the IMI a slight bit less than that since they wanted to screw them on their original Desert Eagle design)

12 Gauge is about 18.3mm
Even 20 Gauge is about 16.5mm

So you can see the problem.

This is why you dont hear about many sniper rifles being over .50cal in size, despite them being monsterous already.

That NFA designation of it pretty much being an explosive device (same class as a Mortar) is a higher grade restriction than just the shotgun issue.

Shotguns are allowed because they're unrifled. Rifle the barrel... you run into this wall instead.

Reminds me of the musket shot from the 17th and 18th centuries. Those things were practically shotguns back then. Just about the same velocity, size, weight, everything. Unfortunately for them same accuracy too.

I wish people would make more 0000 shot shells. Its like being hit with a 9x19mm straight up. Only fits about 8 in there.

Yeah im not exactly sure how that would work, but considering that the ATF has human beings working in it instead of robots, who can tend to be assholes, they're likely to rule against you.

Idea is you could get a Shotgun manufactured at the factory normally, a model with a pistol grip. Change the barrel with a rifled barrel... new barrel is 8 inches long.

Since there's no foregrip its a pistol. Since its rifled its not an AOW (or shotgun).

But still somehow I think they would leverage that "larger than .50cal" to deny it.

Funny thing is that if it was approved the Spread on that motherfucker would be Even Larger than usual... pretty much a frigging Ring.

Short shotguns are just as effective as full length shotguns.

The powder in most loads completely burns within 9" of barrel. This means a shotshell fired from a 9" barrel and a 18" barrel have the same muzzle energy.
>>
You know the mentions of these .410 shells gets me to thinking how this could be easily solved...

Somebody needs to make a .50 caliber equivalent shotgun with 3.5" long shells.

More firepower and lead than a 410, maybe almost as much as a 20 gauge.

With a really shitty twist rate so that its still a rifle (say 1:96").

But we know how new ammo types fare. Sometimes its just not in the cards.

That makes literally no sense.

surprise surprise

If you got sbs and the ATF finds out, they will shoot your doggos, kill your family and send you to pound you in the ass prison.

>See Ruby Ridge

>have no distinctive spread pattern, therefore the ballistics are untraceable

Not exactly rocket science to figure out someone full of pellets was killed by a shotgun

I see a lot of Americans are quite fond of the Nugget, and abhor modding it or bubbaing.

Care to explain?
I'm not a nogunz btw.

>Technically yes, but it would require a section 5 waiver from either the Home Secretary, the Prime Minister or Her Majesty, so they're essentially defacto banned completely.
Your cops don't carry semi-auto handguns ? Wtf
>>80782057
I live in a comfy private commie block, there are security guards with dogs patrolling at night. Also my door is armored. So home-defense is pointless. For self-defense in the street, you can't use gun in France (it's forbidden to carry a loaded gun) and criminals generally don't use gun here. Self-defense against terrorist is not possible with the guns allowed here since the terrorist who carried the attack last year had AKs and bullet-proof vests.
>>

It is illegal in France to use a gun to defend yourself anyway, unless you own said gun with a special authorization for defense that few people get (typically only pharmacy and jewelry shop owners). If you own your guns for sporting/hunting reasons, then you'll get literally RAPED at the trial. They'll tell you you weren't supposed to use those guns for defense, and that you were supposed to store them into a safe, with the ammo locked up somewhere and all magazines empty. They might even argue that if you had the time to get such a gun in working order, then it couldn't possibly be considered self-defense as self-defense needs to be immediate. You'd most likely be accused or premeditated murder.

>home defense is not necessary when you live in Paris

You'll change your mind quickly if you ever get in a situation in which you'd need to defend yourself. You'll understand that "calling the police" is usually not an option.

If they didn't burn you alive first.

For all this talk of muh 2nd Amendment muh vote from rooftops, Americans are getting cucked by the ATF daily and nothing seems to be improving.

Honestly those people are just gay slavboos.
They complain about modding it because "it's a piece of history" or "its perfect how it was made"
But there's 10 of millions of Mosin Nagants.
They aren't rare at all.
But poor kids that just turned 18 and want a hun buy a Mosin because it's so cheap.
Hell it was my first gun as well.
Anyways, they get really attached to the Mosins and splerg out online about how cosmoline, stripper clips, and Russia is the greatest things ever.

>Your cops don't carry semi-auto handguns ?

specialists do, but on the beat no. Our cops have pepper spray. Yeah. They're well trained in public relations, but fail to keep the peace in any meaningful way

Actually, loads of Americans are fond of bubbaing it. Just those on 4chan find it abhorrent, even though they shouldn't give a fuck about what someone does with their own mass-produced, dime-a-dozen rifle.

Cannuck, this is the 2nd time we've tried to explain the same thing to 2 different people.

I think we're soul mates or something.

That is an hyperbole, a thick jacket is not going to stop a .22. I'd be more concerned that rim-fire is inherently less reliable that center fire cartridges.
