>Terrifying. It's the daily nightmare. The healthcare that you have here...I'm constantly scared stiff by it. I can't believe that mercy has a price on it and having grown up in a country where it is simply accepted that if you fall ill you will be treated and is not a question of how much money you have or which credit card you carry. To be in a country where it's assumed to be natural that if you are ill, you will pay for it and that if you were ill for a long time, you'll pay for it until you haven't got any money left is astonishing...I don't think it has anything to do with socialism, any civilised country especially a rich capitalist country should be far more concerned about healthcare. I think those Americans who live next to the Canadian border have realised that there is an alternative.
What did he mean by this?
It means he's a one-nation Tory.
>>80714707
Yet if he ever falls *really* sick I'll bet he'll run away from the NHS and come to big old meanie America.
>>80714707
so is he in favour of or against Socialized healthcare?
What did he mean by this? I'm really thinking,
>>80716042
He hates the tories
>>80719388
Yet hates Thatcher, so I guess he's to the right of Cameron, the right of Blair, and the left of Maggy. Sounds pretty one-nation to me.
Yet we have the best healthcare in the entire world.
It's almost like things cost money and you should plan your life around being able to live.
>>80716208
This.
In reality, most Americans don't really get sick that often, and don't pay that much for their medicine, because their employers pick up the tab.
If you're unemployed, you should just die, leech.
I'd love for us to be able to centralize healthcare in the USA, but realistically, we're too big and have too many leeches to do so.

How is this relevant?
he used to be a trotskyist
I really dont understand - state controled healthcare works ok most of the time
why is everyone against it on here - is it because you are a young amerifat who doesnt remember healthcare before nixon or are you from some failed third world country where nothing works including the healthcare
>>80721397
Ding ding ding we have a winner
>>80721862
Here's the problem.
>>80721862
Because it doesn't work. Socialised healthcare leads to lower quality healthcare. America has the best quality healthcare in the world.
>>80722383
There's also this problem.
>>80721346
>>80722429
>>80721627
how does that take away his point
>life ruined forever if you break a limb or have a heart attack
>this is a good thing because hurr whut iz u sum kinda gommie?!
>>80716793
In favour, obviously
>>80723165
>life ruined if you break an arm
HOW?
A teacher where I work had HALF HIS BODY COVERED IN THIRD DEGREE BURNS after there was an incident with a barbecue pit during teacher appreciation week.
He came back in like three months and didn't pay a dime out of pocket.
his brother was based
this is now a religion debate thread

No and no.
>>80721346
>had
We have Obamacare now, on top of paying Commiefornia taxes, I'll pay a penalty for not having health insurance.
One thing is risking it and going with medical insurance inbetween jobs for a month or two, another is getting stuck in part times because businesses dont want to break themselves covering employees insurance.
Some companies fired people to save money on this BS
>>80721862
>why is everyone
insurance investor shills regularly post baseless anecdotes about having red hot nails driven into their skull in health service hospitals while being held back from emergency care.
>>80723329
His brother had some good points but he never really grew up.
>>80723329
Both Hitchens were pretty shit.
>>80725119
This, they're both really overrated by different factions.
