I've heard people say the 00s were "the last fun decade to be a teen in". I mean, even though I was mostly a teen in 2010-2012, I was also technically a "teen" in 2008-09...that still counts as pre-widespread social media, right? I know Facebook was invented in 2004, but it didn't really get popular until 2011; 2005-2010 was the "Myspace era". I remember that even in the late 00s, early 10s, teen didn't openly act like faggots and didn't spew memes in real life, unlike today.

The correct answer is Facebook went mainstream allowing normies and leftists to finally access an effective online platform. Before this they were stuck with email, and some instant msg programs and perhaps a MySpace where they really couldn't effectively broadcast their ideas. The Internet was also largely anonymous at this point and people rarely posted under their real names thus unpopular ideas had a real voice.
With Facebook people had to start hiding any unpopular thoughts since it was coupled with the real world, also social activism became much more effective since you could connect much easier with like minded people in real life. Unpopular ideas had to hide in the fringe corners of the Internet protected by anonymity. Also people stopped going outside to a large extent, which means they got a warped view of reality, they stopped encountering niggers and their behavior and thus started to believe that there was no problems since they didn't see any in their bedrooms.

If you were born after I'd say about 1997-8 you grew up with a completely different web to people born just maybe 4 years before you. I was 16 in 2008 and was using forums and IM, some close friend social media but it wasn't everyone at school. 5 years prior I was told not to use my real name on the internet and using e-mails etc to communicate. Not much younger most people had shit or lacked internet.
