all downhill from there

It's been ongoing for decades, but 2007 as a tipping point seems about right

Sometimes I'll be looking something up and come across a message board post or an article from 2004 or 2005. I'll read it and keep thinking to myself how bizarre it is that the people posting on this message board had no idea what kind of shit was awaiting them just over the horizon. Their posts feel so much more innocent in that sense
>>

It'll be okay brother from the north, we shall fix things together.

I definitely noticed it. With hindsight, shit started heading south even faster than after 9/11.

>>
I guess you could say that. But 2008-09 weren't so bad compared to now. The piece of shit that was America was making its rounds about the toilet bowl, and then around 2011 it finally flushed down. Then a hobo living in a sewer creamed his poz on it. But Trump is the water treatment plant that will make America great again.
>>

Nah, 2008 was an awesome year, but even 08 was nothing compared to any year between 92 - 99. 2009 was absolute shit and it has got worse every year since.

lol where the fuck do you live, somolia? Literally the exact opposite is true. VR prices going down, AI technology is progressing at an extremely fast rate. The final nail in the coffin for the internet was gamergate

As stupid as some people would say that is its...true. GamerGate became the boogeyman not even Men's Righr Activist could. Oh sure it has died down by now but the damage is done: people now have a made up boogeyman to 'prove' there is some dangerous force out there which require the internet to be fully controlled to 'keep people safe'.

Of course I'm of the opinion GG was inevitable. Maybe not in the form we saw it as, but nerd shit flinging and autism-powered internet wars were seemingly inevitable due to the ecosystem of the internet.

I haven't told anyone this, but I feel something has changed since 2014. In myself, and in pretty much everyone else on a physical and spiritual level. Now things feel sort of "still", "frozen", "stuck", .... It's hard to explain but sometimes I lay awake at night thinking about it. Now I'm a borderline shut-in NEET but I was already NEET for years before 2014 so I don't think it's just the feeling of personal isolation.

Things just seemed more alive pre-2015, more fun ect.. I don't know. Maybe we just have less happenings these days so things seem more boring. Maybe that's just when the depression really started to kick in for me. Fuck knows.

Gamergate for me was the point where we were completely shown that the media can and will go all out making up lies to support itself. We all thought they did before, but it was damning proof that solving the problems of today will not come easily, and definitively wont come from "conversation". Action needs to take place, the media owns the narrative, you can't talk your way through a problem.
>>
>>80674374
You're too young.
2001 was the turning point, 9/11. The day society decided that safety trumped liberty, which spawned the SJW movement, BLM, and all these other retards who saw an opening because we softened up our culture to the point of being pathetic.
>>
I started browsing in 2007. Quit in 2012, came back in 2014. The proliferation of cheap mobile phones set up the tinderbox with so every retard with an opinion had 24/7 access to the internet without a PC. Gamergate was the turning point for this sjw shit.

OP how old are you? I assume you were born between 1990 and 1993, correct?

Nothing is new. Nothing got worse that year. Every happening is just a replay of a previous happening. After you see the cycle repeat a few times you will recognize this, but right now you think its new, that 2007 was a turning point, because you didn't see the last turning point, which was probably the Rodney King beating, court rulings, and subsequent race riots. I those riots were a turning point until I realized they were a replay of past race riots.

The current chimpouts are pretty tame compared to some past incidents. The only thing that has really changed is that white guilt faggots are chimping alongside the nigs because its considered fashionable and virtuous.

2007 was almost certainly when shit started going downhill, I remember transferring from a majority black middle school to an almost entirely white high school. Everything was significantly better, less fights, safer environment, just better quality people and location in general. Then I had to listen to these dumbfucks condescend about how black people are oppressed and have it so bad. I've lived with these savages, they do it to themselves. They are incapable, even in elementary school, of functioning as a normal human being. I've seen it, I've experienced it; and that's a hell of a lot more evidence than what the libcucks are spewing these days.

Now this shit is permeating into the mainstream and somethings going to break eventually, reality and fantasy are distinct; as much as we pretend that they aren't.

Early to mid 90s, maybe, but as time went on after the fall of the Soviet Union things just seemed to slow down. The late 90s and early 00s seemed dark and gritty to me. I definitely think things started declining slowly in 91, things really got shitty in 01. Then in 07 the economy crashed, leaving everyone in the shit, and 2014 marked the start of SJWs and this pandering special snowflake culture we're getting now.

I agree things started going dark in 2011. There's been stages. 2001 was a fundamental societal shift, 2007 was an economic fallout that caused many to lose income and stability, and 2011 seems to be when the full gravity of everything started hitting us.

Weed got popular and started being grown more indoors. with the law becoming more and more lax, people stopped guerrilla gardening as much.

You know why they called pot 'sticky'? Because THC and other various cannabinoids are sugars and are extremely sticky. Making the 'buds' really sticky. Bees love sugar, they go absolutely nuts over pot plants.

I would argue, that this graph is due to the face weed is more popular and thus flooding the streets so its easier for youth to get a hold of, but due to advancement in indoor growing techniques, there are less out door plants and the bees have effectively lost a sugar rich food source.

I'm not sure, because it's so tied into me growing up, and becoming more aware of the world (I was very introverted up until junior year of HS). But around the time I graduated, 2012 seemed to change a lot. Mostly just from shifts in youth culture, the rise of widespread pseudo-irony and hipsterism. Which I find hugely offensive to my personal being as my family was always really old fashioned, partially from having really late generations and from coming from small strict religious sects, and hipsterism encroaches on so much of my culture and degrades and mocks it.

But again the world is more than our perceptions, and as simple as that is a concept, you sometimes REALLY have to think about it to understand trends you may relate to 2004 may actually have started in 1974 or earlier.

2008 (Great Recession and Obama) were the turning point, but the outcomes of both didn't become apparent until 2010 and 2011 (Arab spring and OWS). The rise of digital media is also significant.

By the beginning of 2015 I honestly thought we were all done for. The open acceptance of trannies (Bruce Jenner) really shocked me; everyone suddenly decided that transsexuals were "brave" and "progressive" within the space of two weeks. Couple this with Germany opening up the borders and revealing to all just how far we'd all fallen (even if it is just the krauts killing themselves for the time being) in August, and you can see why 2015 was something of a low point.

The only upside is Trump in July of 2015, and possibly the Brexit vote a few weeks ago. Maybe 2016 will be the start of something better, but I'm not confident. The rot is probably too far advanced.

I entered university in 2011, and it's absurd to see how much has changed in those 5 years. We're all living in a different world now, and it seems to have no connection with the past whatsoever except to despise it.

>lack perspective
I'm pretty sure everyone in this thread who is claiming some particular point in time as the "turning point" only thinks that was the turning point because that is the point where they started to pay attention to the world outside of their bedroom, classroom, and social circle. They don't think this stuff was happening before 2007 because they weren't paying attention prior to 2007, and that's why I estimated OP's birth year to be early 90's. As you get older you notice that the new shit is same as the old shit.

The only REALLY big societal shift that has occured in the last 30 years, and I do mean course of humanity altering massive change, is the internet and communication in general. Very few people carried cell phones in the 80's, mostly just business types who needed it for work, and not that many more carried them in the 90's. Now about 90% of teens seem to carry cell phones. It has changed the way that kids interact, and it is my belief that it is socially retarding many people that they are having less and less person-to-person interaction as kids.

>>80685186
But that's not true. Social media started having an impact as early as the 90's. I used to steal AOL disks from mailboxes just to avoid buying floppies, that's how ubiquitous AOL was at the time. Again, you born in 1993 right?

it's closer to 99.9% honestly. I was a total outcast sperg and still had a flip phone in 2007 when I was 14. They're ubiquitous now, even broke ass negros and the bottom 1% of society have at least a flip phone.
>and it is my belief that it is socially retarding many people that they are having less and less person-to-person interaction as kids.

this is the core of the issue. An entire generation is now being raised, entertained and taught with ipads and phones. This is why I'm scared of having children. An abundance of technology can and will socially retard children if they're looking at screens all day instead running around, playing, picking on nerds, playing tag, learning how to lie, learning how to socialize in general.

>get buzzed on no more than 5 oz of weak-ass faggit liquor like peppermint schnapps or something
>ride bikes, get wrecked (always at least 1 kid wearing a cast at any given time)
>check it out I found a porno mag in my big bro's room
>hide porno mag in the woods so we can check it out later
>home before the streetlights come on, time for dinner
>dad says "what did you do today anon?"
>"nothing"

Typical summer day for a kid in 2017:
>wake up
>microwave pizza rolls
>continue to eat junk all day
>xbox
>fagbook
>streaming porn
>twitter
>tendies for dinner
>bed

That's the biggest change that has happened, but it didn't happen in 2007. It was a gradual decent into collective madness. Kids that grew up learning to socialize online instead of face to face with their peers are socially stunted because during those mundane summer adventures we learned things like friendship, altruism, conflict resolution, how to flirt, how to get rejected, all of the stuff that typical nu-male autists are terrible at.

Actually everything has been getting noticeably better for a few decades now. The only reason things seem worse is because mass shootings have been on the rise. The only reason this is happening is that news reporters keep bringing attention to mass shooters thus encouraging copycats. In all other respects, crime has been down across the board and the world is better than ever.

>I still don't know how it all went downhill so fucking fast..

Generation change.

SJW = Hippies.

The hippies started this crap in the 60s but they were forced into submission by strong conservative forces, that ended up election Reagan in 1980. Today most of those older generations have died off (lost generation, greatest generation, half silent generation) leaving the baby boomers in power. The baby boomers were the hippie generation and with no one to check them they are running wild again.

They hid in the school implementing their Social Justice propaganda for generations. Now they have an army willing to do their bidding and they've forced everyone to shut up through muh racism, muh racism and the Civil Rights Act.

That is why it's accelerating so fast today.

I don't think that's because the population is any more well-behaved, I think it's just that abortion prevented a lot of future criminals. Also, the U.S. jails more people now.

Nope
It was 1963 when JFK (The last good President) got shot, and LBJ started pushing for all that civil rights nonsense.

The world is becoming more chaotic and predictable at the same time,a constant escalation of the (((elites))) wishes combined with modern technology has pacified the general population of the west completely and utterly. A buffet of distractions is available to the modern, moderalty wealthy human, and only when these are removed will things change, probably through violence.

at least you didnt get a taste of the old world, only to have it ripped away on 9/11. I'm old enough that I can remember the pre-9/11 world and how much better it was.

Truly, it is suffering

>the last generation to grow up with Mr Rogers and pre-PC Muppets Sesame Street

>the last generation to know a time the US wasnt involved in any major war and the biggest crisis facing the nation was if the president had lied about having an affair
>>
People say

>It's not worse you just noticed it more

The problem with this:
Suicide has sky rocketed since 9/11 in multiple generations.
Crime has actually been rising significantly and the FBI have acknowledged something is wrong.

You can see it for yourself, it's not a trick of the mind.
Things really are far worse than they used to be.
>>
>>80690330

The fact that you think that things can be both chaotic and predictable means that you don't understand what either of those words mean.
>>
>>80674945
Maybe it's just a the tranny thing everyone's tripped up on. Gays are one thing but when people start cramming the idea that dudes who wanna chop their cocks off and be called madam are normal and TOTALLY SANE AND CANNOT BE CRITICIZED that's when
I got off the ride.

I had never been a fan of degeneracy but I thought it was ok to just tolerate t but when the Tranny think happened I knew they were taking this all the way to the bottom. Pedo acceptance, polyamory, bestiality, fucking Sodom and Gamorrah.

That said we seem to be settling back down into standard aussie apathy again but americans always seem stressed out as fuck.

But thats is the worst part, I heard the ECHOs of the old world.

>reruns of Mr Rogers and Seasame Street the were only around until I was only 5

By the time I had started to look into the world, it was 2007 and all that was gone.

As for the war...

I grew up used to hearing how another soilder died in a IED every week or so, I was used to that.
>>
>>80690494
I sort of mean how the news tells you "apocalypse is now goy, terrorists goy looks like we better restrict your freedoms to stop those (((terrorists))) goyim" is the chaos, and then the predictability is the inevitable restrictions and laws to stop (((hate speech)))

I remember hearing a segment on NPR or something similar about childhood obesity where various experts proposed retarded solutions like better nutritional information and education for kids (like they give a fuck). Finally there was an older sounding doctor who said we should stop wasting money on awareness initiatives, put all of that money into liability insurance, and make playgrounds dangerous again. Over the years all of the fun rambunctious slightly dangerous stuff has been ripped out of playgrounds and replaced by faggoty plastic bullshit with with soft round edges and no possibility of speed or excitement or injury because ONE FUCKING KID broke his ass falling off of it.

I had some of the best moments of my life playing on an old rusty bastard that looked like pic related.
