I can't speak for other countries but I believe in Norway the king can tell congress no if he feels strongly against something. And they have to deal with it.

I would love a monarchy to be restored only name at LEAST. I think something like that would get more support. Where the country is named Kingdom of _______ and there is a royal but the country continues electing the same official positions and the monarchy has no official duties or powers.

Personally I would rather have a monarchy when it comes to large populations. Since one vote wouldn't be worth much and said monarch was trained from birth to effectively lead the country. After that I would put local elections in different towns each with their own elected bodies to represent said people from that town.
That way you get the best of both world, an effective leader while at the same time have a more local democracy so it doesn't end up as who can spew the most propaganda, get most tv time. Said leader should preferably also be born and raised in said area so people somewhat know him.
