I am really starting to miss old /pol/.
I feel worse everytime I look at the catalog. I loved the conversations that used to happen here. Sure there was always shill threads/slide threads but the volume was managable. I feel that alot of people that tried to make this board a quality news forum left.
Looking back I feel that flags were a horrible choice. Now everyone has a secondary identity that they are always playing up or being called out on. Simply put, the ideas a person are conveying arn't the main focus of response, instead it's the persons flag.
We need to remove flags for the good of /pol/, they were fun (especially when we found out that /pol/ is far more diverse than imagined) but we need time to rebuild a board culture based off ideas and not flag shitposting.

People didn't respect rules 1 and 2 but the site has been growing constantly since its inception so it was only a matter of time. Personally, I think it isn't too bad atm. Quality banter, memes and serious discussion can still be found. /a/ has managed to retain some of its quality but I think the constant modding killed it in the end, just no longer as fun.
