The factor that made me switch from capitalism was my college experience. BUT WAIT! It is not what you think. You see, I got a degree in Accounting. My instructors were PRO-capitalism. They actively discussed the problems of communism when relevant.
It is precisely because I have a decent knowledge of capitalism, that I am now able to reject it. Capitalism creates a society where animal-like psychopathic average IQ people are selected for. Smart people can create things for their wealth. They can innovate. Business people can only manipulate things for the benefit of themsleves. They provide no real value to human life. The genetically superior people are being repressed into suicide. They are being kept down by jealous 100IQ tools. Why do you think people these days are so afraid of competition? Because they know they cannot actually compete with the smart people, so their survival mechanism is crab mentalitly.
In my world view, wealth should be distributed based on intelligence. The problem is that we have no objective test yet. When we find the gene for intellgience soon, though. It will be possible. I hate normal people more than idiots. They are ruining the world, idiots are not.

The reason I decided to pursue science instead of engineering was because engineering meant I would have no control over my labor. If the only job I could get was making prostate massagers more energy efficient, then that is what I would have to do.
Pure science isn't much better, basic and interesting research is not funded or applied in industry. There are tons of plastics that are better for the environment and don't mimic estrogen, but companies don't want to pay more to produce them.
I lean to the left because I believe that even if one was born stupid, dumb and irrational that doesn't mean you should not have housing, medical care, job security, leisure time i.e a decent life.
