Almost everything here is either already populated or a farmland.

You either have to demolish a city with hundreds of years of history (at minimum) or sacrifice food production. In the end the thing will cost bajillion of dollars with little or no sense for existing.

Please no, american cities have the most unnatural city grids; you have to use a fucking car to navigate around.

American grids are also incredibly monotonous - everything looks the fucking same.
>>
>>80592741
Then you probably wouldn't be able to rely on public transport nearly as much.
>>
>>80592741
Unlikely to happen in a lot of areas, since our cities used to grow organically rather than being planned.
If we get a WW3 and everything goes full Dresden that might change though.

are Milton Keynes and Letchworth, both built in the 20th century with American-style grid influences.

Pic related is Poundbury, a town also built in the 20th century, which is built along traditional/European lines.

There are plans for a vast "garden city" in the Black Country region of England (the Black Country is in the Midlands, so-called because it has a history of Victorian industry, covering it in soot and turning everything black), but I don't know whether it'll follow the low-density gridlike American path or the high-density European twisty path at the moment.

Suburban is nice for people with children. The streets get less traffic than a grid, so you have fewer strangers driving through, and kids can ride their bikes and such in relative safety.
The curved roads also break your line of sight so you don't look down the street and see and endless corridor of identical houses.

It's not as good as simply living in a small town, but it's as close as you can get to that while still living relatively close to businesses and such.

European style cities are really degenerate and shit. Density is cancer, not something to aim for.

I agree with a couple things Europeans do: preserving historic buildings, and not building high-rise monstrosities.

I favour a mesh of these two frameworks. 1 acre lots as standard in a suburban pattern, with lots of green space, good highway networks, distributed employment in business parks near highways, with a small and protected urban core, consisting of historical and heritage buildings, and NO high rises or degenerate modern architecture anywhere.

My city, Canberra, blends these quite well, although it is getting worse.

Suburbia is cancer.

The task that moral planners have to achieve in the 21st century is how to avoid suburbia whilst still giving people decent homes in urban areas that are not ruined by noise.

Immoral planners, the Modernists, of course, will still be happy to treat people like pawns and create vast suburban estates where people can live isolated lives with their televisions for company, teaching them to be good consumers.

No, don't agree. Density is cancer and goes against the very core of what it is to be Australian.

A family needs land, a backyard, some sense of harmony with nature to prosper properly.

Any lot below about one third of an acre is simply not good enough for a big white family.

You will also find family friendly low density estates to have a much better sense of friendliness, while enforced density simply creates hatred and frustration, and detracts from community.

You're talking to a Brit, he is most likely non white and doesn't understand the needs of whites and white families. You're correct and he isn't. A high population density is the cause for countless mental illnesses and is completely unnatural. To put things in perspective: Humans have lived in villages and tribes for most of their time on this planet, these mega cities only sprung up 200, or arguably 100 years ago. We aren't made to live like ants.

Wealthy upper-middle class people can be attracted to urban areas via the use of purely residential squares like pic related which are orderly and quiet whilst still being in walking distance to the active spaces of the urban centre.

>>80598353
Suburbia is cancer. It kills community and basically places a man/family in front of a television at home, and replicates it over many square miles. The only time they leave their hosue is to go to the car. Pathetic.

There are problems with urban living, but suburbia is only the answer for people who would also be happy living in a retirement home, isolated from the world.

I didn't grow up in a gated community, they don't exist in Australia because we don't have niggers.

I grew up in a family friendly, white, low-density suburban area on the edge of my town. By no means a rich area, it was and still is a mainly middle class area full of young families.

>>80598614
The Australian dream was actually present from before federation. By 1900, the detached home had become the most common type of home even for urban Australians, while it still isn't in much of Europe. Queensland was the world's first jurisdiction to mandate detached housing in 1885.

planed cities are relatively hard in historically rich countries such as Europe. An example of the divide would be Sydney versus Melbourne or Adelaide. Sydney was the first city, built by convicts and was planned by a retard. Melbourne and Adelaide took a planned approach and is much easier to navigate.

In Italy, England, and so on, so much historical monuments are in the way of rational building.

A television? Suburban whites have one need: a television that they can watch X-Factor on. That's it. Give them a television, and they are happy.

Urban areas are for people who are open and enjoy being outside. Suburbia is for people who are just waiting until they can move into a retirement home.

Well, most Australians are descended from Britain, and a strongly pro-white anti-density culture formed here, so the problem isn't with British people, but that particular British person.

We do need more German families, though :).

>>80598623
Perhaps in America. In Australia, particularly if not for land use restrictions designed to force people into denser, smaller, more cramped accommodation, there is no reason every family could not live on a 1 to 2 acre lot.

>>80598682
You simply don't understand Britfriend. White men require land to thrive. A family without land is no family at all, and a nation that can proudly state that all families have land is a great thing indeed.

You have to remember that a lot of people in Australia/America do not have legs that can walk more than 100 feet. If a place is not easily navigable by car, it is poorly designed, in their opinion. If the shops don't have giant parking lots in front of them, it is poorly designed. If they have to make more than 5 turns on their way from their house to the city centre, it is badly designed. If the streets are too narrow to fit a aeroplane through, they are badly designed, etc.

What makes Australia great is the egalitarian philosophy most of us share, a direct result of this ideology is the idea that all families whether working class or rich deserve a decent life.

Australia is in many ways the direct opposite of societies like Hong Kong, where egalitarianism is pushed to the rear in the mad scramble for money, and where the poor are left for dead while the rich get richer every day.

I call for a permanent ban on new lots lower than 1 acre in size, and a new law forbidding degenerate modern architecture including glass towers.

All this said, the US has some incredible urban areas that surpass Australian ones in terms of my urban planning ideas. Charlotte, NC being one.

This is something that frustrates me. There was a time when Americans built cultural or artistic or fanciful buildings, but now everything is built for cost efficiency, "environmental impact", profitability and crass commercialism.

Our Cultural Edifices are corporate headquarters, amusement parks, hotels, casinos, stadiums and shopping malls. All monuments to our obsession with money, status and hedonism.

Anyone wanting to build the Jefferson Memorial, St. Louis Arch, Golden Gate Bridge or Seattle Space Needle today would be ridiculed out of the construction business and sued for triggering environmentalists.

Americans wouldnt be so autistic over apartments if only they knew not every apartment are aging shit build 100 years ago and made of bricks.

We missed out a lot while europeans were building apartments with modern glass and steel . because the government would only give cheap mortgages for suburban houses.

Im not even in favor of having a density centric approach but it does piss me off when the government were doing favorites for one type of construction instead of having it equal funding between suburbs and high density apartments.

out of state tourists joke about how apartments are "only for niggers" and when they come they realize apartments can actually be comfy and modern looking.
