I tried to follow what the fuck it does and its purpose but I can't understand the science talk and stuff. I can handle most things but it just went miles over my head.

So let's first examine the name: LHC.
This stands for Large Hadron Collider. I'm sure you know two of those words, so let's focus on the one you might have some trouble with.
Hadrons are a classification of subatomic particles (mesons and baryons).

So there are 4 fundamental forces that govern all physical phenomena (according to currently accepted theory): gravity, electromagnetism, strong nuclear force, and weak nuclear force.
Gravity's particles are still mostly a mystery, but we'll call them GRAVITONS for now.
Electromagnetism has the ELECTRON and the PHOTON -- you've probably heard of both of those.
Weak Nuclear Force has the FERMIONS, but I am definitely not getting into them here.
Strong Nuclear Force has the HADRONS.
So basically, we've already got a good handle on light and electricity, gravity is too hard right now, and weak QFD is more proof theory with a calculator and caffeine than science right now.
That leaves the strong force. Now, just because it's the easiest of the 3 we have left to really play with (currently accepted blah blah), that doesn't mean it's easy. Hadrons are small and move really fast, and they're usually not in high enough concentration (the strong nuclear force largely acts as the glue between "something" and the "rules" that something has to abide by) to make useful measurements. Moreover, hadrons are held together by the strong force, but there's really not much of it going to waste. Unlike light, where there's a spastic paintbrush of evidence for us to pick up on, strong nuclear force is generally only measurable via the things particles won't do. So... we take those particles and sling them at one another at the speed of light (well, as close as we can manage) to force them to do things they won't do and liberate whatever's responsible for strong nuclear force. Then we look at it. A lot.
