At these times, I had no pragmaticism, nor an egocentric point of view. I viewed things as a third party deciding what was best for everyone, with low information, and an unbridled naivety.
Then I grew up without thought of government. As an older teen and young adult, we don't look at how politics affect us. In our minds, we just assume some grown, responsible people are taking care of it for us, and we can focus on ourselves. What happened out there had very little to do with our narrow field of vision. I started developing higher order cognitive views and went to college. Then I took a government class and an election was coming up. It was so natural, I didn't have to even think about being a conservative, I just was one.
It just goes to show why people are liberal. They're essentially brainwashed preteens.
