Before the end of the cold war, the Anglo-Saxan countries feared any socialist support as being dangerous and a potential gateway for full blown communism. That threat is now gone.
Furthermore, the Anglo-Saxan education system has slowly adopted the French style education system. This system breeds socialism by keeping children in school for far too long. They have a piece of paper but no useful skill. The young adults that graduate from this school system will be more inclined to revolt against conservatism and fall victim to socialist dogma. Many of the people that are products of this education system, are now in charge of the media.
