Kind of. When I was at school, which wasn't that long ago, I'd discuss politics with my mates.The problem was that some didn't care, and the others were fucking suggestible as fuck. The cool thing about discussion is feedback. Someone spots a mistake or something that can be developed in your argument, and you take that into account. You return the favor, and eventually everyone walks out with a more developed worldview.
These guys, however, would eat up everything I say. I'd toss thoughts around about Hitler being a decent guy and they'd be like "huh, really makes you think" before they slowly started to parrot my talking points.
