I'm brand new here, and I just wanted to clear something up. Is /pol/ satire?
I've seen some folks here saying that /pol/ is a satirical board, a "board of peace", etc. This makes sense given the amount of bigotry and propagation of outdated ideologies here. It's hard for me to imagine that any well-adjusted person could take any of this seriously.
However, I've also seen some posters spending hours of their time "debunking" what they refer to as the "holohoax", which makes me wonder what kind of person would spend that much of their time making a joke on an anonymous forum.
So, anons, let's clear this up once and for all.

The more time you spend on /pol/, the more you can actually differentiate between satirical threads/posts and actual serious threads/posts.
It mostly depend on the poster. You will find trolls, people that genuinly want to debate, the whole thousand shades of the alt-right, from neo-nazis to republican that decided to vote Trump. You will find extreme neo-nazis, you will find edgy kids that think /pol/ is /b/ with a svastika, and so on...

It's not satirical, it's raw and unfiltered. If you see someone say "kill all niggers" in response to five police officers getting killed, they probably don't actually want all blacks to be killed, but there is at least a genuine emotion being expressed.
It's basically the opposite of Reddit where you have to run your message through like seven filters of political correctness and then do a lot of double-talk (I'm not racist, but...) so your message won't be downvoted.

4chan in general is always a bunch of retards who a great many times are absolutely illiterate about the topic of the board they frequent and shitpost, every board on 4chan comes with it's own brand of degeneracy, that is if it wasn't created by it
best examples are /sci/, /fit/, /lit/, /mu/ and of course this board as well
the difference here being that /pol/acks sometimes are actually useful, like during GG times or now while digging up dirt on the clintons
