It looks like a T55 for me. The road wheels and the look of the backside reminds me of that.

It may be a command vehicle perhaps?

Count roadwheels. It's got five not six. So it's more than likely a T-55 chassis.

Taking a closer look it's a T-62.
How to tell?
It has five roadwheels like the T-62. But unlike the T-55 it does not have a gap between the front two roadwheels.

Could just have a machine gun in that home made turret cover. They might even carry a few troops in it and use it as an APC.

Too short of a clip to really see.
The fact it is armoured makes it a worthy asset.
>>
>>80259085
That is possible actually some countries like Israel did similar "heavy apc modifications" but I am skeptical. There only seem to be a door in the back of the "turret". Also the hull doesn`t seem to be fatter than usual. You can see how much taller is the BMP2 next to it.
>>
>>80259182
It's effectively cut off already. Good luck trying to resupply the your terrorist brethren when the SAA and the Kurds will light you up when you go through that corridor.

Doesn't even need to be battle damage. Turrets are the hardest part to maintain on a tank.It might simply have gotten damaged and they couldn't fix it so they just popped it out. Getting the gun out frees up a tremendous amount of space thus using it as an APC becomes possible.

He said he got stuck in one of these but he got pulled out. And they had to leave the wounded behind.

*The insistence of western media on calling it the " civil war" is misleading/inaccurate.
*The president had no option but to stay and fight. It was never about his person as the media likes to portray, it is about the existence of the state in its current form , or chaos for decades to come.
*Obama proved he has a somewhat cool head by not attempting a no fly zone.

Well Western media and western leaders got away with connecting the Damascus Spring/democracy protests to Islamist uprising even though the two are clearly not the same.

How do Syrians view the events in Daraa in 2011? As the real start of the Islamist uprising? Or as just one of the many events that led to the war?
Ive been wondering about its significance nationwide

>What is /sg/ sings?
If you're familiar with /a/ sings, it's sort of like that, but instead of singing anime openings, we'll be singing the anthem of the Syrian Arab Republic.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIWX5coH0pU

>Ok, but what do I do?
If this shit actually goes anywhere, you can record yourself singing it and upload the audio to http://vocaroo.com
if you're a rare flag who's self conscious about his voice, you can paste the vocaroo link in this form https://syriagenerals.wordpress.com/memes/

>B-But I can't sing in Arabic
Not really a problem. When you sing the song, you should put headphones on and play it while you record yourself singing.
if you loose pace, just say what you think is right.

and here is the romanization of the Arabic:

Humat ad diyar alaykum salam
Abat on tadilla nufusol kiram
Arinu alubati bateton haram
Wa arshu shumusi himan laydom

Rubu al shalami burudju eye'la
Tuhaki sama'ah bi'ali sa'neh
Rubu ah shalami burudju eye'la
Tuhaki sama ah'bi ali'sa neh
Fa ardoon zahet bish shumusi widha
Sama unla amruka owkas sama

*Instrumental*

Ala aleh mim domma sham lel bilad

If only more people watched what he himself said about Syria, instead of watching what mainstream media says about Syria, maybe people would not think he is a butcher who wants to kill all the people who form the country he leads. It's absurd. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzmjdLhMeNU

Hey Syria General quick question.
Why is western media so fixated on barrelbombs? Saw an interview CNN did with Assad where they kept pressuring him on them and he just went "does it matter what bombs we use?" .

Is it just a narrative they're trying to spin or am I missing something here?

They're not. Barrel bombs are literally just an oil barrel filled with TNT. A missile is much more deadly than a bomb.
Truth is, the name "barrel bomb" was coined by the terrorists and western media to give the SyAAF a bad reputation. they act like barrel bombs are somehow worse than regular bombs, when in fact it's the complete opposite.

The intent of the channel was to be a sort of hub for Syrian War videos. As you can see there is a lot of information that I pull from channels but the problem is that I can't read Arabic so I am constantly relying on a translator that works about half the time at best.

If you are talking about yesterday attack on Dallas, no. I know /pol/ likes their happening threads (they are pretty comfy, I know), but this is too little to spiral into civil war.
Honestly, at this point, I don't know what would it take to spiral the USA into civil war, but yesterday events are obviously not enough. I know this sounds kinda sappy, but America showed too much "unity" in the face of the attacks, for there to be a civil war.
If some major political group, with a lot of popular support, justified those attacks and called for more, then you would have your civil war.

>>80295683
If those factions find widespread support among some sectors of the population, and these people are willing to openly confront the state, then you'll have a civil war in your hands.
Remember, for there to be a civil war, there needs to be a complete and total rejection of the state and their mechanism of conflict resolve (i.e: traditional politics). So far the US is, for better or for worse, very resilient to that kind of problem.
>what if organized crime (ie Bloods, Crips, etc) starts a campaign to kill cops, maybe even whites in general. with other factions jumping on the boat
A campaing to kill cops is not tantamount to civil war, it is insurrection, maybe, but nothing that cannot be solved with traditional state response: reinforcement of security measures and services.
On the other hands, if those groups start advocating for an ideology of black nationalism, that the only solution for blacks is to have "a state of their own", in other words, if they advocate for the overthrowing of the US government (either in toto, or in one place), AND they have a support base willing to go to arms over that idea, that's your civil war.

the US is nowhere near that scenario anon, so you are going to be fine

On another topic, can anyone who actually speaks Russian explain this paragraph from here to me:
http://nation-news.ru/201786-nashi-tanki-budut-v-rakke-nastuplenie-saa-na-stolicu-ig

>B нaчaлe июля в Acpию были пoдтянyты peзepвы, в чacтнocти aфгaнcкиe дoбpoвoльцы и бoйцы пoдpaздeлeния "Кaдeш". Этoт oтpяд, кaк и знaмeнитыe "Coкoлы пycтыни", бpaвшиe Пaльмиpy, являeтcя cиpийcкoй чacтнoй вoeннoй кoмпaниeй (ЧBК) и вoюeт нa cтopoнe Acaдa. Cpeди бoйцoв этих пoдpaздeлeний — дoбpoвoльцы, нaёмники и oтcтaвныe cиpийcкиe вoeнныe.

Google-translated, it reads:
>In early July, Asriyu were tightened provisions, in particular the Afghan fighters and volunteers unit "Kadesh." This group, like the famous "Desert Hawks" who took Palmyra, Syria is a private military company (PMC) and the war on the side of Assad. Among the soldiers of these units - volunteers, mercenaries and retired Syrian military.

So..... /pol/ battallion when?

>implying they wouldn't be used as willing suicide bombers wanting to erase the taint of their whiteness and privilege by dying for shitskins

Come on, anon, we both know the blacks would be the footsoldiers in that war, and the rich elites the leaders.

>Kadesh
Excellent name for a unit, considering that Kadesh is the first battle in recorded history for which we know the development, and it was fought in Syria!

During the 70s and 80s Hafez al Assad Bashies dad pretty much had a full on socialist economy. While they did make quite a lot of progress in the area of infrastructure development, his policy of price controls of many basic goods and general socialist policies led to a lot of shortages and corruption. Thus around the late 80s early 90s he went on a program of privatization in order to improve the economy. While the economy did improve this led to massive income inequality, primarily due to the fact that during the privatization years one of the major families in Syria, which was the family that Hafez's wife was from gained a massive amount of economic power in Syria. It was said at one point that Rami Makhlouf controlled around 60 percent of Syria's economy. With inequality like that, and the influx of refugees from Iraq, and the drought that occurred around 2010, and the governments poor response to the drought led to ripe conditions for the destabilization of Syria. So you are right in a way anon the population growing faster than jobs led to this situation.

Blacks cannot organize. Back in the 60's and moreso in the 70's, the Black Panthers used the momentum (and backlash) of the Civil Rights movement to launch an attack against White America. Nothing came of it. Blacks cannot work together collectively, certainly not in large numbers (thousands and above). It might surprise you to know this, but most black gang violence is internal. For example, more "bloods" are killed by other "bloods" than by rival gang members. Why? Because there are different "sects" of every gang, and they war with each other. The most organized blacks get is in prison... However, even there, most murders are committed by offenders of the same race as the victim, for all races (same as outside of prison).

Blacks launching a war against the police is not new. It is just suddenly getting coverage.
