In all of human history, has there ever been a successful multicultural society, where people of each race have similar social status and levels of success?
The only country I can think of is Signapore, and they haven't been around for long.
It seems like only an authoritarian government can maintain a functioning society under multicultural conditions, and even then there are usually differences in status between the ethnic groups therein.

Empires are usually characterised by ruling over a huge number of ethnically diverse peoples spread over a wide geographic area, and the most successful ones were the ones that were able to utilise all that human capital.
Modern times? I don't know. The Soviet Union? It wasn't totally dominated by Russians and Kruschev and Stalin were Ukrainian and Georgian respectively. Tbf they did do that whole Russification thing in eastern Ukraine and the Balts, so maybe not the best example.

There are no historical analogues to the multicultural society that the liberal West aspires to.
There have been examples of various faiths and ethnicities coexisting without destroying each other for short periods of time throughout history e.g. Al-Anadlus (Muslim Spain), Rome, certain Chinese dyansties etc. but people inevitably turn on each other based on racial/sectarian/linguistic lines once the economy goes down the shitter.
I think what left leaning people do is mistake multicultural societies as a cause of strength rather than a symptom of it i.e. people move to the West from all over the world due to its prosperity and stability, but that prosperity and stability isn't itself a result of multicultural cooperation (quite the opposite in most cases).
However, that's not to say that all interactions with other races, ideologies etc. is a bad thing.

Where you live, how much you earn, which political party you support, or your profession or your age are all more relevant factors, race barely plays any active role if at all, on anything.
All races do have some sort of communities but it's not like that makes them different from anyone else's.
I think the reason is that most people are of mixed race, and all races have a significant yet similar percent of pure people of it and they were all here under similar conditions.
