Nothing like that is happening. A key point is that Trump has been stomping up and down the campaign trail for a month insisting that nobody gets to speak at the convention without endorsing him. Until tonight. This bit of news conspicuously has not been accompanied by Cruz's endorsement of Trump's candidacy. Rather, it seems to be a recognition on Trump's part that he doesn't actually own the Republican party, and that not everyone will be forced to bend at the knee.
It makes a certain amount of sense. That former position of Trump's was a certain path to defeat, cutting off his nose to spite his fat orange face. This at least might make some folks a little more comfortable about voting for him. And for Cruz, it gives him a podium to stake his claim on that other wing in opposition to the Democrats. Neither is what Trump for non-interventionism, since he's given mixed message on the issue. And neither is non-intervention pacifism, or a refusal to be an active participant in the world. Once more, non-intervention isn't even non-intervention, because only the most ideologically pure non-interventionist would propose America abandon it's bases around the world, pull out of all international accords and withdraw from our bloc alliances; non-intervention in this case is simply a wish to Monday morning quarterback in advance to say the wars we do get involved in shouldn't backfire on us.
