taking the female at her word, he told the officer he had a gun, and reached for his wallet (I can only assume the officer asked for his wallet just before gun notification) which seems early and only causes more issues involving movement and reaching, gun or not

I'm not sure if that is a change in the story. The officer wouldn't have discharged (even if he was shitting his pants) until his hands went back up. When someone yells "stop moving!" at you because they failed to take control of the situation leading up to your movement, you probably freak out too.
The current media climate practically caused this, both parties were too scared to effectively communicate, is what i'd like to think. But the officer was likely more at fault simply because you should be able to take leadership and give movement orders once you hear about a firearm.

If everything she says is true, then this cop was probably just a jumpy asshole that lost his shit in a split second. What I think happened is the dude told him he was armed, maybe a licensed concealed carrier, and the cop asked for his license and registration, and the Black dude reached in the general vicinity of where his weapon was, because that's where his wallet is, and the cop flipped out and forgot he even asked him for his wallet, and then pulled his gun and shot the dude. All this would have happened in a split second, and immediately afterward the cop realized what the fuck had happened.

My sympathy for a Dindu goes right out the window when they resist arrest and fight the cops, because then adrenaline is pumping and the danger factor is high and it's reasonable to believe if someone is willing to fight a cop then they might be willing to kill them.

The problem with what you're saying is an officer is trained to take control when they are notified of a weapon. By not immediately issuing movement orders, neither you nor the suspect have any idea what is going on.
The cop acted in a manner which would only happen in the current media climate. He has to assume a presumed criminal would take advantage of any hesitation, but hesitation is required (in place of communication) in a fuckup like this. There's no way to win, because had he done the "right" thing (after the initial failure to communicate) he could have been shot easily.

However I will say that this case is specifically getting attention because it is a cop killing a black man.
