Anyone who carries a weapon knows. Whenever I'm in NYC subways or buses I look at the hands and belt/pocket area of almost everyone who enters the subway car. Winter time drives me nuts because everyone's got their hands in their pockets.

It's only less dumb than reaching into your back pocket without saying anything. The proper thing to do would've been to declare, then ask the cop if you can reach into your back pocket.
