I think one shouldn't look at the punishment for sin, rather contemplate why they sin. What is the cause of the sin? Is it the act itself, or the consequences that occur afterwards? I've had problems with pornography and masturbation for a while now. I fail quite a lot at staying my hand but understanding the urges, and triggers that cause the sin to occur is key in stopping the negative activity. I do my best everyday to avoid sin but we are all human and I believe in God's love and mercy for us to allow us the time to figure out our problems and to move past them. With God's help, and our own strength, will, and faith to get us through hard times and on the road to grace. The power of prayer is real, make it a habit over sin if you can.
