I think the email investigation will almost certainly be reopened if Trump wins ("Hillary has to go to jail, she's guilty as hell"), and the Clinton foundation is probably an even more serious case, but I wouldn't get my hopes up that anything will come of it before November

I've never heard of him before today so I hopped on over to Wikipedia because I'm too lazy to find better sources of information. He's evidently been big in military intelligence since the start of the Afghan war (2002), and he retired to become an advisor to the Trump campaign.
As a military man (foreign policy, defence, institutional expertise), familiar with the intelligence community (counterterrorism expert), who retired to work for Trump (true believer, will carry on legacy if the worst should happen), and 13 years younger than Trump (no age problems) I think a strong case fan be made for him. The same arguments for Petraeus apply to him, but he doesn't have Petraeus' baggage. Only downside is he probably doesn't have as much experience with the legislative branch (which Trump outlined as one of the important qualities he was looking for), certainly not as much as Sessions for instance.

He was actually on the fence. He's one of those guys that fully assimilated from China when he came over and became very anti China, very pro US. He was against Trump initially because he believed he was pro isolation, Hillary seemed willing to keep America in the international spotlight by comparison. He was okay with this because he genuinely believes in American exceptionalism, and that we need to keep people in check. But he does like the aspect of Trump that will be hard on China, and support the borders it helped sway him to Trump's side when he heard he wasn't pro total isolation, and would be willing to get involved in things worth jumping into, just not pointless war.
He's firmly Trump now though.
