Originally it was a few people with mental problems having access to guns
Now that its happened so often, even mild autist do it for attention
Anti depressants and mental health issues
Because American children are raised to believe that they have a right to be happy.
And then, when they get older and are NOT happy, they start to wonder why.
Some of them come to the conclusion that the reason they're unhappy is because someone (everyone) is against them.
And, lacking religious upbringing, they don't understand that murdering people is never an acceptable thing.

that is some of it, but I honestly do think that people having kids later and later in life has caused a huge upswing in autism. autistic man babies with no significant other to share the burden of mediocre, combined with a twisted desire to achieve fame leads these people to try and go for infamy instead.

We had school shootings for like 10 years. Then it suddenly stopped and never happened again.
Pretty much annually until 2009.
I have absolutely no idea why.
Psychologists always said the media covering the shooters like "super stars" made it worse. But the media never changed but it still stopped.

There are many reasons.
One is to provide interesting stories for the media, which sells advertising.
Two is to sell guns for personal protection.
Three is to create anxiety which sells liquor and pharmaceuticals.
These things are necessary for a robust economy.
Otherwise people would relax and hang out with their neighbors and effectively organize against government.
