In today's world cops act like fucking pussies. They would rather take a life instead of trying to end the situation nonviolently. Who is to say that the cop that shot this guy was physically capable or incapable of simply putting his foot on the suspect's hand preventing him from drawing the weapon?
The sad reality is that based on state or local laws, cops have the absolute discretion to magdump someone if they think their life is in danger.
To put it shortly, the types of cops that commit these types of killings have completely mentally checked themselves out from ever taking the higher road because their departments are enabling this style of law enforcement, and unfortunately the economics of justice vastly favor event like this - quickly wasting someone's life instead of spending millions to jail them and feed them, and likely to rejail and reprocess them later down the line. It costs about 15 cents to kill someone with a handgun.
Its for this same reason that we have examples such as the no-knock ATF raid where they kicked some guys door down, the guy pulled a fucking sword and instead of commanding him to drop the blade, they gunned him down from 30 feet away. Modern cops are hired to shoot people, that's the bottom line.
