The Obama administration asked Congress on Thursday to authorize $500 million in direct U.S. military training and equipment for Syrian opposition fighters, a move that could significantly escalate U.S. involvement in Syria’s civil war.
Money for the assistance, which would expand a CIA covert training program, is included in a $65.8billion request for the Pentagon’s Overseas Contingency Operations, or OCO.

Problem with question:
The phrasing of this question creates implicit bias, by association of felons with background checks in the wording of the question. It also does not cover all of the difficult topics that arise when turning support into law (such as family and private transactions and the government controlling purchases). Additionally, despite the claim in the article that support has risen for mandatory background checks, this number has declined from a high of 96% in the August 7-8 2012 survey and is the lowest level of support for all of the surveys included on the report.
A more fairly worded question would be: "All firearm sales, including private transactions, must complete complete a background check on the prospective buyer before the transaction occurs, to determine if that buyer is legally able to purchase the firearm."
Liberals also love to use the narrative that "the NRA & Congress don't represent gun owners" which is often stated referencing the CNN poll. This is purposely misleading because due to the bias of the question. Since the average person will likely respond that they don't want felons to have access to firearms; many people ranging from huffpost writers to Valerie Jarrett claim that since new laws haven't passed, it must be Congress being bought out by the NRA.
