What is /pol/s thoughts on soda? I know it's incredibly bad for you but I can't stop drinking it
>>79827405
Works well with certain things.
>80% of it is water
>bad for you
How about you just don't drink an entire case of it in one day.
Everything is bad for you otherwise.
>>79827405
Stop corn subsidies so that corn syrup is no longer economical to use over sugar and most of the bad shit is solved overnight.
Then all you really have to worry about is drinking allot of soda.
Protip
More than one a day is too much regardless of sugar or corn syrup

Don't listen to the scare-mongers who treat nutrition as if they were practicing miasma theory; if you aren't fat the only thing Soda is going to do is ruin your teeth.
If you're starting to gain weight then high-sugar drinks are the first thing to cut from your diet (along with white breads), but the link between sugar and health defects is only second-hand through obesity.

The gist is that the body fails to process fructose properly so it has bad helath consequences. The body is good with glucose but glucose is hardly sweet compared to fructose so fructose is way cheaper to use as a sweetener.
People take nutrition way too seriously or don't think about it at all. Like any other junkfood, it won't harm you if you consume it from time to time, but it will if it's all you eat or drink.
Just exercise some self control, or cut it out of your diet completely if you can't consume it in moderation (stopping completely is usually easier than moderation for most people)
just have water, kid
Ray Peat think it's actually healthy, especially the kind of Cola that is made with real cane sugar.
Fat people should be banned from life.
Not as bad as everyone says it is. If you do drink a lot, cutting it out is one of easiest ways to be healthier.

>>79828134
This. Amerilards put fructose in everything, that's why they're suffering an obesity epidemic.
Also doesn't help that burgers removed all fat in most of their processed products, and replaced it with sugar, because otherwise, surprise, it's inedible and tastes like literal shit.

If you can't go cold turkey, at least replace it with something that has some nutrients even if it's also got a bit too much sugar. Pic related, it's my sole vice.
>>79830299
Just about every first world country is experiencing an obesity problem. It's because we have an over-abundance of food, not because of anything specific with that food.
Welcome to capitalism, where we are so rich we are fat everywhere.

No, sugar makes the calorie-count explode, and people continue to consume the same quantities of food.
What has changed is the calorie count.

US made soda is socialist degeneracy. The government subsidizes corn growers who supply high fructose corn syrup which is why it is the cheaper alternative to real sugar used in soda.
It's also commonly purchased by people on welfare. In this case, we have a large portion of an unnecessary industry that is sustained by your tax dollars.

Redpill me on Coke Zero. I can tolerate it, but it's probably going to give me cancer.
>>79827405
Soda contains refined sugar. Sugar is difficult to find in nature. Our bodies become addicted to it instantly the moment we taste it. It disrupts your insulin levels, increasing blood sugar and appetite, causing people to want to eat more unhealthy food.
Soda, juice, ice tea, and alcohol are empty calories and detrimental to your teeth, muscles, cardio vascular system, hormone levels, and overall health.
Soda is great if you never drink it. Watch other people ruin their bodies.

You're uninformed. look up all the effects of aspartame, which is made by feeding e.coli massive amounts of artificial sugar and then their excrement is the result.
if you drink it with stevia then I guess it's not that bad, but stevia tastes so bad.
>>79827405
Pepsi Max master race. There has to be something wrong with it, but it tastes good and isn't a ton of empty calories so I'm happy.
>>79833178
Yeah I've looked it up and it's easy because it's like the most studied substance in modern history. And the conclusion is that it doesn't have any effect because the amounts needed to have effects aren't possible to consume.
>>79833150
Water is very close to neutral. Soda isn't really worse than citrus juices though
>>79833292
Only bad thing is the sweeteners fuck your metabolism and insulin levels up, but yeah I'm addicted to the caffeine and hate coffee

I'm with you OP, I'm hopelessly addicted to Coca-Cola. I managed to quit for 2 months last year and lost 30 pounds instantly. Trying to find the will to quit for much longer period.
>>79833715
It's still used over here in the UK. I read the metabolism one and I know for a fact that last summer when I quit caffeine and dropped Pepsi Max cold turkey and I lost like 5-6 pounds in a month doing nothing extra but drinking juice and water
>>79833675
If we're talking about something like Coke Zero instead of pure aspartamine it has way more caffeine which actually has effects.
I only drink water, beer, fruit juice or whole milk.
>>79834036
We we're selling it by the tub full at my work.
Normal sugar is probably better for you anyway, the body knows how to digest it properly.
It's all about moderation.

I drink soda rarely. as a kid my parents raised me healthily, which meant we never had those huge bottles of soda unless we were having a party. occasionally theyd buy me a small bottle or something. I learned to not drink soda all the time.
and as ive gotten older, my sweettooth isnt what it used to be. So i dont drink it much. Especially since i try to avoid HFCS and plastic bottles. So occasionally i might buy a can of coke/pepsi, since that's smaller as well, or I get the glass bottle variant with the real sugar, which is still usually a smaller quantity than the plastic bottles.

I drink liters of coffee at a time, pretty sure it's not the caffeine in the diet drinks that causes it. And there are plenty of "less calorie" drinks here with aspartame and no caffeine.
