I'm of Turkish origin, born and raised in Germany. There's not much Turkish about me. I'm not religous, not nationalistic, think German, speak German. Never was actively discriminated against by native Germans. Never have been racially profiled by the police. You can assimilate, but you can't chance the perception of the people surrounding you. You will not be 100% German and that's ok, if the society is fair to you and Germans are fair and tolerant.
