A Toronto gay pride leader has admitted that he tricked Black Lives Matter into ending their protest of the Pride Toronto parade.
Pride Toronto’s executive director says he signed a list of demands from Black Lives Matter to end the group’s blockade of Sunday’s Pride parade, but has no plans to honour them.
Those demands — which include banning police floats from future parades, as well as extensive funding — are for Pride’s membership and the community to pass judgment on, Mathieu Chantelois told the Star.
A Black Lives Matter representative has signaled that the group is not happy with having been lied to.
“At the moment when Mathieu signed the agreement, he was smiling, he was hugging members of our community, he was celebratory,” Black Lives Matter member LeRoi Newbold said. “It would be very disappointing to find out that his engagement with this political act was disingenuous.”
Adding insult to injury, the gay pride group has welcomed all police, nemeses of Black Lives Matter, to future events. “Of course I want the police to be part of Pride in many ways,” said the Pride Toronto leader.
Social media users are already discussing ways to “retaliate” against Pride Toronto during upcoming events, according to sources.

Gay Toronto police officer responds to demands that police be banned from participation in Pride Toronto parade::
I am a Toronto Police Service Constable, and a homosexual. I have been on the job eight years. Prior to becoming a Police Officer, I served in the Canadian Armed Forces and completed a tour in Kandahar Afghanistan in 2006-07.
This year, 2016, marked a first for me. My first Pride parade. I would be working, nonetheless it would be my first one in any capacity. Wow, what an event. What a spectacle, a joining of everyone.
When I saw all those floats and officers marching (hundreds), I realized that my employer fully supports this part of me, and so many others like me. As I stood post at Yonge and College, ensuring a safe atmosphere, Chief Mark Saunders came up to me. I had the opportunity to salute him, and I knew that I had a leader who was invested in this celebration of Pride.
Police officers are significantly represented in the LGBTQ community and it would be unacceptable to alienate and discriminate against them and those who support them. They too struggled to gain a place and workplace free from discrimination and bias.
I do not speak for the police, and I do not speak for the LGBTQ community. I speak as an individual, one who saw his first Pride, only to be excluded from the next.

Take, for example, the principle of freedom of speech. This is a core liberal principal, championed in John Stuart Mill's 'On Liberty'. When modern "liberals" shout down Milo so he can't speak (and at his own speaking event), or when they file complaints against professors for simply stating facts, such that they end up self-censoring just to avoid wasting time appearing before university boards, they are betraying a fundamental leftist principle. I don't think they understand left-wing political philosophy or history very well. They only know how to be "offended" and throw tantrums. I find this absurd. Sam Harris is right to call them the "regressive left."
For myself, I'm pretty left. I am pro-gay rights, women's rights and I oppose racism. I believe in green politics. I support labour unions. I believe in social democracy and the welfare state. I'm a secular humanist. I love socialized medicine and gun control. But I also have some "right-wing" views, like a desire for greater controls on immigration and strong opposition to those Muslims who practice sexism and homophobia, which is pretty much all of them. I want Canada (and Europe) to preserve it's traditional national identity. The Trigglypuffs of the world would despise me for this. But on the whole, I'd say that I'm 80% leftist, still. I haven't changed. It's just that the "new left" have betrayed their philosophical roots.
