The thing that's too hard for many populists to understand is that refugee crisis is a crisis for a reason. They will come to Europe whether we want them or not the question is how we should handle them. Sure we can block some of them on the borders but not all of them. Turkey is doing pretty good job holding the floodgates but some of the migrants are already flooding over illegally one way or another.
Oh and Gunning down civilians isn't really acceptable in today's Europe and would likely cause huge discontent among people possibly leading to even civil war.

we're no longer talking about a labor market in this situation. we're talking about ONE employer having godlike power over ONE employee. it's hyperbolic to call it slavery, but it's a situation where the employer is paying the immigrant in both MONEY and RIGHT TO LIVE IN THE US. that means they can pay them way less money than if it was a free market transaction.
