Experienced junkie reporting in, took 1000 micrograms once and I'm still sane. . . I think. LSD is nothing like people say it is, and tripping once is not indicative of the full capacity of the drug, the 'trip' is different every time. I've had some of the best and easily worst experiences of my life while on acid. No it does not fry your brain, or make your spine bleed, or any of the other shit people say it will do, it will however irrevocably change your perspective on many things, as you can think and feel things on acid that you can't while sober. You almost always have what feels like life changing epiphanys on acid too, whether for better or worse.
