what happened /pol/?
I thought /pol/ was always right?
I thought brexit was going to save England?
I thought Farage was going to save England?
Why is he quitting /pol/? Could it be possible he actually never had a plan to save England and is now jumping a sinking ship?
But you were always right /pol/, can you explain this?

Nigel Farage got into politics with a specific goal, accomplished it in his view, and stepped down. This is the epitome of what a politician should fucking do. Not get cozy with power and become a career politician, not vaguely work towards a nebulous goal that will never be truly realized like "help the poor" or "embrace diversity," but one that is concrete and achievable. Once he achieved that, he stepped down, and even though other politicians wouldn't think of it(because as Nigel himself said, most of them have never had a real job in their lives), that should be the standard that they should follow.

He went in with a goal he felt was right, worked to accomplish that goal, and said "fuck politics I'm out" when his goal was completed.

He's not retiring anytime soon.
I heard he was planning to spend as much time in the EU as possible while he still has a job there.
>>
>>79714553
Are you sure though?
Farage: "Absolutely. There can be compromises with the EU, including on a possible British contribution to the EU budget" - shortly after the results of the referendum.

Everybody knows that the UK will pay the EU either way. Access to the single market might as well be even more expensive than the special deal UK has right now.

It amazes me how on a politics forum how many people on here are genuinely political illiterate.

UKIP needs soft reform to capitalise and take the North of England. As great as Farage is, he is incredibly toxic to vast scores of the general public.

He is also not a member of Parliament, to deem him accountable when he has essentially headed a political pressure group is complete naivety. He's achieved his goal and if UKIP is to develop it needs an outlined new direction post referendum (just not under Carswell/Evans).

I think democracy is dogshit and probably the worst form of government imaginable, but I thought liberals all loved it. Why they get so mad that the 52% are telling them what to do anyway? Those sheep love mob rule. And even more than that, they love smarter people than them telling them what is ultimately better for them. Farage tells them what's good for them and they still get mad.

Can't win with these sheep. Their ancestors tried to give them rights and a choice in running their country and they'd rather just hand it over to a pretty much non-country that thinks water can't hydrate you.

Because he's a fucking faggot. He had the spotlight and could have used this to usher the UK into a new political era of nationalism. Do you not understand that this was his opportunity to spring himself to the next level as a high ranking political leader? Instead he abandoned ship, leaving the EU deal to be brokered by Leftist faggots and as a result you will still have immigration as a contingency for fair trade deals. If you go here and click around, you can see some live statistics about the speed of each board- new threads on top, new replies on the bottom.
https://catalog.neet.tv/stats.html

The posting rate roughly matches up with pic related, which is a few years old I believe.
As you can see, /b/, /v/+/vg/, and /pol/ each get more traffic than all of the otaku boards combined.
/pol/'s userbase is as casual and disconnected from the rest of the site as /b/tards and /v/ermin. People come here, probably via /b/, and go directly to /pol/ without taking any interest in the content-oriented boards.

There's also the phenomenon where Internet polls tend to come back more conservative than telephone polls, suggesting that conservatives are more vocal on the Internet.

So explain Farage's timing, then.

Why didn't he step down the day after the Brexit referendum? Why not step down right then? That would have been a nice mic-drop moment, don't you think?

Or why didn't he wait to step down until after the UK officially, once-and-for-all left the EU? Nothing is carved into stone yet. How come he didn't stay on until the job was actually done?

Instead he chose to step down after all these other guys resigned because they don't want to deal with the fallout of the referendum. Farage doesn't want to deal with it either because he's as big of a coward as the rest of them.

Nigel has no say in the invoking of article 50, even if he were to be vocal on the matter his view would be taken as opinion and nothing more, whether he was leading UKIP or not.

Did you expect him to remain the leader of UKIP till his dying day? As everyday they're out of the EU is technically a day that they'd be living with the consequences of leaving the EU.
He's campaigned for this for almost as long as I've been alive. A change in leadership will be good for UKIP, gives the party and opportunity to refocus their goals now that their biggest has been achieved.

He can lead his party and try to get UKIPs as MPs. It's funny how they campaigned Brexit as anti-immigration move as well, are UKIP people just going to dissolve their one goal party and leave United Kingdom for the old parties who are more than happy to fill them with immigrants, is that their independence?

He's leaving with momentum on his side for National elections
Why would he stay on a sinking ship?

>I wonder what their real problem with EU even was

Their keyholder, Rupert Murdoch, doesn't like it.

You're an idiot. Farage is an MEP he has no say in domestic affairs now that Brexit is finished

>Yes /pol/ hate England be brainw- I mean hello pol look at this silly picture
>>
>>79723578
He's actually right though.

Do you understand anything about British politics? Farage is neither a Tory nor an MP. He doesn't hold any actual power.

Michael Gove and Andrea Leadsom are both Tories and both prominent leave MPs, they're currently contesting the leadership.
>>
>>79713253
What's the point of staying in the independence party if the UK is out of the EU, you fucking moron?
>>
>>79718492
Because they'd be insta-banned on literally any other website

You must have been homeschooled in the deep south.

>>79724157
Exactly what aspect of Britain's membership of the EU was of particular interest to you?

>another Brexit Backer drops off as soon as it's time to actually do the legwork

And what legwork is he supposed to do exactly considering he's not an MP and isn't in government?

All he can do is pop up on TV and give interviews, which he can do with or without the position
>>
>>79720677
God damnit, this is why we aren't allowed on brit/pol/

You're so delusional. First of all, that graph even if it was ever accurate is in fact outdated, /pol/ has gotten much larger than /v/.

Second, how can you say they're "disconnected" from the site when they make up the majority of it? How is a board like /adv/ which is slow as fuck and has users that are obviously from Reddit and Tumblr more "4chan" than boards like /pol/ which are filled with everything that people associate with 4chan?

A lot of people on /pol/ and previously /new/ came from boards like /b/, /a/, or /v/, and some still crosspost on other boards. A lot of people from places like Reddit go to directly to boards like /g/ or /his/ without touching other boards, so this isn't a phenomenon exclusive to any board. Old /jp/ had a lot of /pol/acks and Paulbergs.

Finally, the idea that the internet is more "conservative" is so retarded I don't even know where to begin. The internet is pretty much a safe space for leftists since it skews younger and more activisim-oriented. Look at Reddit, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, NeoGAF, Something Awful, etc. Filled with them. Even 4chan now has people who support political correctness. And your idea of online polls skewing more toward the right wing is stupid. A lot of online polls indicated that the Brexit wasn't gonna happen.

Sounds to me like there is two reasons for this:

1. Removing himself from UKIP means he may be able to team up with Andrea Leadsom.
2. Removing himself from UKIP means that UKIP will become a more viable party in the future as the youth of this country have been poisoned by the media to hate him..
>>
>>79727413
This.

I still post on a plethora of other boards.
>>
>>79713936
He needs to be a part of Brexit government and fight for at least one term on Downing Street. Perhaps he has agreement with Leadsom and we will see him in her cabinet. Perphaps he wants people to ask him to go back and he will go back, because people called him back, not out of personal desire. Realpolitik.
