I've browsed ate chan a decent amount and met some global mods from there, it's honestly autist central. Everyone either has opinions too edgy for 4chan, are worried the NSA are spying on their every move or furries.
Things it does better than half chan? Less r/the_donald refugees and newfriends coming for the presidential race. I still wouldn't recommend it.
The other boards are fine though, albiet a little over autistic and slow. A lot of people on some boards are forced there due to retarded moderation decisions on half chan, a la /d/ and other examples.

I used to visit it because it had a higher quality of discourse and slower pace than 4/pol/, Things started going downhill after the "Second Exodus" and it became complete shit after the "Third Exodus." There's a lot of shitposting and tumblr-tier hugboxing, and the mods are shit. I was banned once for making a blatantly sarcastic post in response to someone else's shitpost (I'd been posting coherent arguments for the entirety of the thread until that point).
I still lurk occasionally since they tend to get more shit done than 4/pol/ and aren't as completely flooded with shitposts, due to the aforementioned super-cranky mods.
