I thought the so-called BLM storyline was pretty balanced. It was purely an accident that Poussey died the way she did. The CO who killed her was literally the only good, clean guy on Piscatella's crew. Things got out of control and nobody was at fault. MCC tried to portray Poussey as a violent thug, found there was no basis to do that, so they switched their narrative to the guard being a dangerous loose cannon. Caputo refused to play into the narrative, having more balls than anyone in his position in real life.
