Its the political inheritor to the fin-de-siecle mileu that birthed fascism into the world, accompanied by all its 'themes'. Degeneracy is a strong theme, so too is anti-modernity, vitalism and identity.
There are even the same mystical affiliations among this loose group.
This does not mean that white supremacy is a lynchpin of the alt-right. The symbols and ideas of the alt-right could easily be used by any other race to the same end, there is nothing especially white about it.
In fact, I'd say that those of such persuasions, in Europe at least, are the most vocal opponents of the 'white' label, and all power and supremacy thereof, and would characterise it as American cultural imperialism, the inversion of so-called 'cultural Marxism', in that it is a shitty, East Coast rip off of European fascism just as the latter is a bastardisation of revolutionary communism.
