It's not a law, but I think it's pretty relevant/messed up. My husband and I were homeless for a bit when we were teenagers. It was the middle of winter and practically blizzarding, I had some clothes but he was wearing jeans, flats and one wool coat. We were freezing and starving but the shelter would only allow me in because they couldn't allow him around the poor scared abused womyn inside. He wasn't even eighteen yet! Another time (we had an apartment by now) he kicked me out for breaking his trust. I wandered around town and ate lunch at a soup kitchen to pass the time while he calmed down and the whole time everyone was hyper like "did he hit you?! Do you want to call the police?! We can take that ass hole down in a second!" and also trying to convince me to force him to hand our two year old over to me (wandering the streets vs. with his dad at home) because they thought it was so wrong for a mom and baby to be separated. I've noticed a ton of things like this in our life.

This is horseshit, guys talk about their feelings openly, they just don't do it in a direct way, i.e. 'she really pissed me off, she's been nagging me and making me feel like a dickhead' is translated as 'she's trying to control and belittle me and I feel like I'm not being respected'. Also, men tend to plan their suicides better and use more violent/reliable methods e.g. hanging, shooting etc. They are more likely to try and kill themselves because of a major life crisis and less likely to do it impulsively and for no reason like some women do.
