Meaningless rhetoric.

>To reduce the threat of terrorism, the social and economic injustices which contribute to terrorist actions should be addressed.

>Climate change represents one of the greatest threats to international peace and security.
I would agree with this if it were focused on resources and not something that has never been proven.

>Environmental degradation caused by climate change impacts will increasingly result in the displacement of people, undermining global peace and security.
Prove it. Just save the reef and shut the fuck up you poofs.

Greens are a literal bag of hot wind. They have their ideas but not one practical conception on how to achieve any of them. Most, if not all, of these policies are supported by Labor, which is in a much better position to achieve them. Greens are a literal waste of space, time and votes.

The lower house uses Alternative Vote (or Instant Runoff, whatever you want to call it) and it really is barely better than FPTP. It's immune to the spoiler effect. That's it. The crazy aussie way of voting you're probably thinking of is Single Transferable Vote which is used for the upper house. It's also used in Ireland and Malta, so it's not like we're the only ones crazy enough to use it.

>To reduce the threat of terrorism, the social and economic injustices which contribute to terrorist actions should be addressed
Kinda of an empty statement tbqh. What tf does this even mean?

>Climate change represents one of the greatest threats to international peace and security
Correct statement. Maybe not so much security but definitely peace

>Environmental degradation caused by climate change impacts will increasingly result in the displacement of people, undermining global peace and security

Basically we're stuck in a tie race which means we have to go for the lower house electives. At the moment Pauline is doing 4 seats and 1 seat greens to split between 4 independents. It's hung at the end swinging towards who holds majority seat in the representative faze. Should take a day or two to clear up.
>>
>>79588779
>What were they planning on doing to our military? Cuts?

Not really, they couldn't pull it off anyway, they are trying to stymie our Hawkish nature. Effectively they are referring to declarations of war and other military operations of the type being put to parliament instead of being a "captain's call".

It's difficult to know whether that would actually be a good or a bad thing. Could have done without us being in Gulf War 2.0 tbqh and we wouldn't have a duty to take on all the refugees that were generated by that adventure.

No party as of yet has gained the 76 seats in the House needed for majority government. Could go to either Labor or Liberal (conservatives despite the name), maybe needing the support of Nick Xenophon, the Greens or other Independents to form minority government.
Senate suggests that many fringe parties will hold the balance of power, including Nick Xenophon and /pol/ darling Pauline Hanson, who may hold a personal record of 4 seats, after 18 years of irrelevance and a few years of jail. Which was Liberal organized AFAIK.

Both houses were dissolved after Liberal government failed to pass some bill.

1.

"willing to respect or accept behaviour or opinions different from one's own; open to new ideas."
Why are your "liberals" tyrannical commies who don't believe in the 1st amendment?

Because America had a very strong social structure 60 years ago. Rigidly strong

There was a great move to undermine this social order and free up society, the Liberal movement. Bolsheviks hijacked this movement to subvert and overturn society, the same way they did in so many other countries.

Now that this social structure has been fully torn down, they are implementing their true goals, which is basically a massive totalitarian government with them in charge

The Liberal party in the past was actually originally a big tent centrist party.

Then Menzies purged most of the "Wet Liberals" (Progressives) so it became a socially conservative party, but even then, it would have been more similar to modern Labor than the modern Libs.

The Libs didn't go batshut full hard-right until John Howard who was a neo-conservative. Turnbull tried to drag them back to a more centrist position then was knifed and you got Tony Abbott who was just a fucking mental case, now you have Turnbull, but he now only cares about power for power sake so he's actually dragging the party even further to the right (preferencing rise up and fred niles for example).

One of the more bizarre parties is the Nationals, who are the "farmers party" who actively fuck over specifically farmers. The Australia Party is the proper Farmers party but because Katter is a bit loopy, nobody votes for them.

>The votes have been counted
>Leyonhjelm won't retain

"In NSW early suggestions are the Coalition has at least four and possibly five seats, Labor has four and the Greens have one. Hanson’s One Nation has 4 per cent of the vote and half a quota.

David Leyonhjelm’s Liberal Democrats have only won 2.6 per cent of the vote, down from 9 per cent at the last election and will need strong preferences to have any hope of winning a seat. He may be fighting the Christian Democrats who have 2.7 per cent of the vote and the Shooters, Fishers, Farmers with 2 per cent."

I love looking up the current NBN plans and seeing some shitty housing commission and/or bogan town already hooked up while vast swathes of civilized land is a maybe in 2018.

And I remember giving labor a benefit of the doubt that one time they promised to fix it, except the implementation plan turned out to be indefinite so it makes little difference in the end.
We'll go back and forth another 3 times with the big two parties at the rate its being worked on. Both need a serious kick up the backside to get it done.
