Your own fault for falling for the college meme.

Why the fuck are there so many worthless threads on college degrees that are worthless now?

Any degree outside of STEM at a good school is a waste of time. Save certain specific degrees like law or economics at ivy leagues
>>
Well I do regret going to college, I should have just gone working in the supermarket when I was 18 and finished school.

Most liberal arts degrees do not have a job market robust enough to pay off college debt. Women's studies is just an easy target.

>>
It was free for me so totally worth it.
>>
>>79571802
Well that's what tends to happen with the mentality "everyone should be able to go to college". It takes away the whole reason why higher education even exists. The easier you make it for people to go, the less they are going to try and do something useful with their education which is why you need to have a good balance between the two

It is mostly a waste of time, and more importantly, money.

Those 45% must be people who tried to rise above their station, trying to ride the supposedly easy wave of liberal studies only to find that liberals only hold theoretical power on weakwilled fools but rarely are successful in real life.

Heres a few tips.
>You can get the same degree from a College and a University, but pay a different price. Obviously some schools are better ex: Harvard Law

Large swaths of college degrees are in fact, worthless or hold very little actual chances of employment.

Women's studies is just the perfect representation of that, but even respectable humanities studies like Philosophy (as long as we're not talking modernist and postmodernist shit) and History have very little chance of you getting a job in academia. You'll be lucky to be a fucking adjunct.

Unsurprisingly, people are unsatisfied because they were lied to that they could be anything. Even STEM getting fucked because pajeet and rajeesh are cheaper to hire, and occupations like programming have employers trying as hard as they can to reduce wages with H1B abuse and funding strong empowered womynz in tech by throwing money at boot camps and seminars.

I am in NP school because I want to be a provider. CRNAS (Nurse anesthetists can make up to 200k in the US but the job is boring)

Nursing is easy pussy and good money. I made 110k last year with OT too but the work is draining and you get shit on by lab, dietary, pharm, MDs, radiology, social work etc etc because you are essentially the "Care manager" and in charge of the patient to an extant.

IF you have the gusto and don't mind the time sink I would stick with MD but that is A LOT Of schooling after grinding out pharm school.

I had a local guy who would take in High Schoolers at 16-18. He'd train them (or have one of the older boys train them), pay them hourly at $8 with raises if they stayed on throughout HS.

Learned all about the trade from him and the older guys. Got paid nicely, got to learn responsibility and other values, bettered me physically, improved my math related skills.

If you can find some of the more local or small buissiness guys, they will usually take on younger boys interested in learning the trade. I started out sweeping, but by the end of HS I was building cabinets, doors, dressers, vanities, ect.

I went to college the first go around in a two year associates program for theatre.

Didn't finish, went to L.A, did some theatre stuff, got enough to go back to school for an EMT program, met my fiancé working as an EMT (she was a paramedic)

Quit working as an EMT when I got a job for Apple, put her through her nursing degree program, managed to work 50-60 hour weeks to pay off her previous loans and her new program.

Going back to school this fall to be an electrician with a degree in mechatronics. Gonna pay cash for my program.

College isn't a waste. If you are a waste of space, college will be a waste for you.

I'm glad I never fell for the college meme as I see endless kevetching on goybook about student loans. I grew up poor, so I knew the value (or lack therof) of a dollar, and know I would have to pay back loans on top of whatever kike interest rate they set.

I'm kind of glad I had no dreams/career goals as I was homeless during my "best years" and grateful I have a job that pays me $15 hourly, but we all know this isn't sustainable, but I have no plans for the future, let alone a GED in my 30s.

Yeah it sucks that there is a direct
correlation between people who study those fields and vote for who they hope is best rather than looking at the facts and understanding the system.

I personally won't ever hold public office, but if I tried I'd never get elected. Because I'd be honest with people. You can't hope for the best. You have to play the game and with the cards you're dealt. The difference between a smart individual and a dumb one is knowing how best to play those cards and the game as a whole.

A degree is good, but the going away to college is stupid. You should stay home and get a degree from the local state university.

Registered nurse (passed your boards in your state that you want to practice nursing in)

And Bachelor's of nursing. Means you have a four-year-degree in nursing.

He's kind of right -- a generalized "biology" degree is mostly centered around softer stuff like ecology and the dynamics of evolution and stuff, it's actually pretty lax and mostly memory based.

Biochemistry seems much more worthwhile, especially in preparation for medical school.

If you feel like uni was a waste of time, then you fucked up and wasted a great educational opportunity. University is essential to professional and hier-tier jobs.

Agreed. College is a huge fucking scam. And it's all stupidly overpriced. I'm honestly paying $750 for a DECISION MAKING class. It's a required class.

I fell for the computer science meme but unlike the 50% of the sperglords who do cs I'm good at it and I found a good job. However I totally agree college is a scam and not worth the cost, especially since you can teach yourself everything using the Internet. You pay for the name and the networking.

No fucking shit. I didn't attend a single major related class my entire time at university, and still felt what I paid was worth it. Ultimately, you're there for the piece of paper. As long as you get it, whether you actually use the resources you are paying for or learning everything on your own, then it will pay off. There is no other way to get that piece of paper right now.

I'll probably end up doing something. I don't know.

Been studying math/physics & chemistry super hard the last 6 months refreshing and perfecting my general knowledge of the subjects. Might get my shit together, volunteer and just take the MCAT then this expedited pre-Med semester long course my uni offers for people who took a break in between going to med school, which ensures a spot the ensuing semester. idk

College is only a waste of money if you're an autistic loser that doesn't know how to network. Do yourselves a favor and join a fraternity. Ignore the stereotypes and the bullshit; it's all about making connections with people in power. I shook a lot of hands during college and I had a fucking writing major. If you go through college without making serious connections, that's your own fault for being inept. Society doesn't care what degree you have. It's all about how you can market yourself.

"I'm actually really smart though"

Don't worry, anon -- after being an antisocial spaz for all of college, never even talking to people, let alone my professors, and now after ruminating in my room alone for nearly 7 months, I feel myself beyond the point of no return. I'd never get past the first interview. You won't have to compete with the likes of me & my nepotism.

An extended family member works in the CA weed industry and they told me if I got a chemistry degree and a few relevant certificates I'll run the hash oil extraction and do stuff like concentrating thc for dabs and shit. Even this is "iffy" though.

I'll probably become homeless in the next 5 year. Once you're a big-shot neurosurgeon dont forget to flick some change my way when you pass me on the streets.

In practical terms, human life has never been more redundant and expendable than it is now. This worthless job market is a reflection of that. Society does not require human input anywhere near as much as it used to. As people become more and more unnecessary, things will degrade further.
The last century saw an unprecedented amount of bloodshed and human suffering. And we will witness cruelties in this century that have never been seen or felt in any other period of history. The picture is very much related.

Stopped going after one semester and got accepted to ODU without even writing a letter to them.
