Why is there so much animosity (on both sides) towards centrists/moderates?

Why is there so much animosity (on both sides) towards centrists/moderates? Why is it wrong to say both sides have their merits and it may just be better to seek a middle path rather than bouncing between extremes?
>>
>>79566674
Because nobody ever gets elected by saying they'll be moderate. People get elected by saying they'll do something and not be a pussy
>>
>>79566674
Because all candidates are moderates.

Do you really ever see a really extreme socialist or libertarian president? It wont happen.
>>
>>79566674
Anyone else notice that it's no longer a Donkey representing the Democrats, but Obama?
>>
>>79568463
whats the difference, they're both jackasses
>>
>>79568629
That's what I was getting at, but good job catching on Leaf.

What a load of shit. Democrats are right-leaning centrists. Clinton is their nominee, for fuck's sake. That Republicans have moved to the extreme edge of the far-right does not put Democrats further to the left. Republicans going insane does not mean that the center is somewhere between sane and crazy.

Compare the political views and speeches of politicians from 50 years ago versus today. Many people who were considered left back then, would be considered "far right" now.
>>
>>79569213
>protecting the borders and encouraging domestic industry is now far right
Ooooooook fag
>>
>>79569508
You don't.

Income inequality is increasing--not shrinking. Privatization is winning--not socialization. What, you saw a facebook post that someone wrote an article on fart rape, so therefore we live in some liberal, dystopian hellhole? You are dwelling in a fantasy land you have constructed from screencaps of social media posts.

>>79569754
No, they wouldn't--that's nonsense. It's just a series of events that progressed. The principles driving that progression are the same now as they were fifty years ago. It's just that the problems those beliefs are being applied to solving are a different set, today, than the problems that those same beliefs were being applied to, fifty years ago. "B-b-but fifty years ago, no 'liberal' would have voted for gay marriage, therefore they were conservatives!" That's not the way it works. They were liberals because of the manner in which they addressed the issues of their day. Same as today.

>I am going to pretend that this is the platform Republicans run on
Ooooooook retard

>>Thinking the left gives a shit about income inequality or privatization.

nice meme there

Independents and (liberal/moderate) Libertarians are the only people who give a fuck about the people. The left pushes globalization to the detriment of the working class. The leftists are the ones who want to import oppressive cultures.

The only true Liberal who cares about the people was Bernie, and apparently according to BLM and SJWs, he wasn't enough. Everyone else is just lying to get elected, so they can make a quick buck by selling out American interests.

You need to read a book.

Caring about income inequality and socialization are literally what define a policy as being left-wing. That's actually the definition. That's precisely, specifically, what being on the political "left" means.

>income inequality

Stopped reading there.
>>
>>79570355
The outcome is not the deciding factor. It's the means by which we get there, and to be frank, the means used these days to, fix* income disparity, is exactly what the right has been warning about. Reversed intended affect.
>>
>>79569213
fiscally, the left has moved toward the right ever since reagen. The right has gone further right. Socially, the right has gone much further left, and the left has gone batshit insane.
>>

>income inequality

He could be referring to income inequality between high and low income earners.
