Reposting.

AEC worker here, got done at 2am yesterday taking vote tallies from polling places.

The 2 day delay is because a change in the system has totally fucked up Senate counts. Some OICs tallied both below and above the line, some only tallied above and literally none of them read their instructions.

Upshot of this is that groups with more candidates below the line have had their votes artificially inflated.

They are furiously recounting everything.

Paulime got all of the Palmer votes and even if she gets 3 in the senate the Greens + Xenophon hold all the power and with LNP losing double digit seats to labor literally nothing good will happen over the next 3 years, then Labor will win 2019 the left will continue to hold the balance of power and we have to wait 3 more years after that for a strong Liberal Opposition to make a come back.

Here's hoping the economy doesn't collapse before 2022.

You vote two ways. Either for the party above the line, or the candidates below the line. Doing both means your vote is invalid.

Polling places are supposed to tally the (1) numbers above the line and report them at this stage, and below the lines are dealt with later.

Instead, some tallied the (1)s above and below that should've been invalid, some tallied only below/above (1)s, some tallied all the fucking numbers and treated it like a House preference ballot, and noone knows exactly who did what.

Senate vote is completely and totally fucked.
>>
>>79569117
it makes the entire election cycle irrelevant because no matter what a party campaigns for, it isnt going to happen, ever

lets say you need a Labor-Green-NXT coalition to form government. That government is going to be built on a completely platform than what anyone who voted for those individual parties was led to believe. atleast with our system the people get the government they voted for

They need 76 for government. There are 7 undecided seats which are likely to go to the LNP. It seems likely that neither will get there even if they form a coalition with the Independants. As the LNP tend to vote 'toe in line' and rarely negotiate so it is unlikely they will absorb those independents. Leaving both parties at least 3 seats short in ideal circumstances.
