Adultery should be illegal. If you havent understood that yet, you are a moron.
This is a fact.

Why should a secular state meddle with a religious affair?

The sun orbits the earth. If you haven't understood that yet, you are a moron.

True, we should brand these fuckers with some kind of letter, like the letter A like scarred red on them. A big red scar A on them so they can't divorce rape anyone in the future
>>
>>79527949
damn merchant you know full well that socialising the sexual market is what enables civilisation to occur
>>
>>79527908
I agree.
>>

Absent some sort of theocratic standard, wouldn't adultery be nothing more than a breach of contract to be handled in civil court?
>>
Adultery was only illegal because having kids were real future investments.
You needed to know your kids were yours as a man because they were going to inherit you.
What other reason today other than "muh feels" exists to make adultery illegal?
>>
>>79527972

marriage is not just a religious affair
>>
>>79528345
You never actually promise to be faithful when you get married do you?
>>
>>79527972
In the US at least, marriage is recognized by the government. Tax reductions, so on. If the government recognizes marriage like a contract, why would they not punish the breaking of that legal contract?
>>
>>79528355
>What other reason today other than "muh feels" exists to make adultery illegal?

"muh feels" is ultimately the reason for every law we have. We have punitive laws because people are not fine with you still walking around free when you murdered their dad.

mabye if you want enough beta males with skin in the game to have cool stuff like electricity grids and national defence
>>
>>79528383
It is tho. In secular societies, marriage is little more than a legally binding contract in exchange for tax breaks, power of attorney, and visitation rights.
>>
I agree.

>>79527972
Either the state recognises marriage or it does not.

A murderer on the loose is a civil hazard, it has nothing to do with feels. Lawmakers made murder illegal, not the people. Also, murder is not really comparable to adultery.

pick one you fucking moron, kill yourself

so you say, maybe he just had to murder that one person. Who are you to make that judgement?

Similarily a person that ruins relationships and love wherever it goes is also a hazard for a productive healthy society.
>>
>>79528355
How is wether or not the children that you've raised and who're going to inherit you are your biological children or not anything but 100% muh feels?
>>
In pre-christian times, Slavic tribes here in the Balkans had punishments for both an adulterous husband and an adulterous wife.

In the case of adultery on the husband's part, the wife's male relatives (or if she had none, simply the men of the village) would tie the adulterer and the wife would beat him to death with a club.

In the case of adultery on the wife's part, the woman would be placed in a large cauldron filled with regular water, then a fire would be started beneath it, and she would be kept inside while she was boiled alive.

I feel like we lost a lot by leaving behind such punishments.

The cheating party of a marriage should be considered to be at fualt

hey you can either enforce morals standards on your population or watch them be replaced by a stronger population who do
>>

Unfortunately burger is right. Marriage used to be a pillar of every civilisation, it alwas was a religious and public institution, until now. Sadly now it's only financial agreement, with "partners" instead of husband and wife.
>>
>>79528929
>so you say, maybe he just had to murder that one person. Who are you to make that judgement?

Not denying I nor anyone else would feel uncomfortable around a known murderer, regardless if it was just one person that the murderer needed to end.
When that line of taking another person's life has been broken nobody feels safe around that person. This doesn't make murder illegal, just frowned upon by the people.
Lawmakers made it illegal so murderers may be prosecuted in a court of law.

>Similarily a person that ruins relationships and love wherever it goes is also a hazard for a productive healthy society.

>>79528953
You have to rephrase that question, Swedebro. I don't understand.

>>79529088
>I have fantasies about a utopia

Murder is ending someone's life, not hurting their feelings by going behind someones back and cheating.
>>
>>79529707
Marriage was always a financial agreement. Your family, your clan, was your company and your employees.

can't you make it illegal through a prenup?

and

>inb4 check out these isolated cases where prenups were ignored

You can argue that all you want, but TYPICALLY prenups are upheld.

You've raised children and now you're dead and they inherit your assets. Why does it matter if they're biologically yours or not, except for muh feels.

I agree. Along with homosexuality and being a minority.

Depends if you had other kids which were your biological offspring. At least in Swedish law, they inherit you, not your adoptive children.
>>
>>79528355
>>79530855
You were talking about how in the past adultery laws were needed because of inheritance issues, but today the only reason to have them would be muh feels. I say that it was muh feels back then too.

And I'm pretty sure you're allowed to give your inheritance to whoever you wish. That has nothing to do with adultery.
>>
>>79531280
>And I'm pretty sure you're allowed to give your inheritance to whoever you wish.

You can't call it inheritance, but you can give it all away. Like if you hate your children, got new adoptive children you can give all your money to them. But your biological children will still have a right to some of your money when you die anyway.

Sure, it is all muh feels in the end back then and now. I don't know what else to make of it.
>>
>>79527908
Of course it should be.
>make legally binding contract to only ever fuck one other person
>break contract
>person kills you and the person you broke it with
>we all go to the funeral and get back to business.

You meant test driven, you dumb yank.
