I have a bachelors In Political Science and am In my first year for my masters. Ask me questions, /pol/ has a lot of spot on geopolitical discussions but It's also riddled with the typical garbage you expect from a teenager with a Wikipedia obsession.

No thanks.

>political """"""""""""""""science""""""""""""""""
>>
>>79482452
Do you support rape?
>>
>>79482452
Will a Master's in Political Science get you a good job or you stuck as a congressional liaison kind of job?
>>
>>79482452
Why would one bother to ask questions when we know what your professors taught you is the right stance on any political issue?
An highly educated individual as yourself is of course pro choice (to kill babies), against raycis', pro guns in the hand of the government, but not for average americans, you think free speech should be severely limited and that you need more third world immigration to fix your economy.
>>
>>79482994
Indeed. It's fucking stupid, wouldn't advise It for anything else other than investment banking. It's really just history and politics, which by themselves do nothing. Hence why you should minor in economics and end up with an investment bank.

>>79483232
Poly sci shouldn't be for aspiring politicians. If you're great at It maybe you'll end up a senate staffer. I used my head and minored In economics and got an internship at a hedge fund. The degree Itself helps with understanding foreign economic systems, and everyone investing out of the country needs an advisor.
>>
>>79482452
I bet $10k on Trump, is this a good idea?
>>
>>79483374
Nah bro. This Is the big myth of poly sci. You should NEVER take It alone. And NEVER EVER EVER stay In a course or a college that has a professor that demands you learn what he or she believes. I was lucky enough to have a rather open professor who has been teaching for over thirty years. We discussed openly the pros and cons of pretty much everything and he would fail students attempting to "copy" his way of thinking. He presented the facts, assigned books, essays ect, and taught us game theory ( One of the most beneficial skills you can have, besides statistics ).

And as for your assertions. I lean to the left, however I'm more of a mixed bag. I support the second amendment In the case of federal tyranny. I support abortion up to second trimester for rapes/incest, and first trimester for all others. I'm not racist, but that's more to do with my upbringing. And I believe free speech must be protected. Hence why I support the second amendment. Now would you stop making assumptions that you obviously don't know much about? Most poly sci grads aren't PC police. And If they are It's because they took the easy route and took women's studies courses.
>>
>>79483383
Ah. I'm about to enter uni undeclared and poly sci sounds appealing but interning for my congresswoman makes me realize that being a staffer wouldn't be good at all/ the pay is terrible (at least in my district). Are there any good jobs for poly sci masters outside of Congress like in think tanks, consulting firms, etc. that pay well? Your finance/poly sci route seems solid but do you need connections to go into finance?
>>
>>79483785
What about third world immigration. Merkel said we need "the refugees" (=an influx of highly aggressive males) to fix our demographic problems. What did she mean by that and would a male youth bulge not make everything worse?
>>
>>79483403
Clinton's shady as fuck. Loretta lynch and Bill had a nice "chat" on a parked plane a few days back. She has the power to overturn an investigation, along with that the president seems to want to push as much under the rug about the Clinton fund laundering and her lack of security precaution. We may see an interview this weekend, however she may be able to slime her way out of that. If she can't Sander's will become the nominee ( Unless Biden shows up at the convention and pulls some undemocratic bullshit ), and If Sanders Is the nominee there Is an even slimmer chance that Trump will become president. The long and short of It Is to never bet on a presidential candidate until their parties convention Is over.
>>
>>79482452
I'm seriously considering polysci and an economics degree. Any good colleges?
>>
>>79482452
Who are you going to vote for and why?
>>
>>79484047
FUCKING BANKING. BANKING YOU IDIOT. If you can't land that try a think tank, from what I hear most of them make you wargame fucked up shit though. Shit that goes against most peoples morals. And nope, all you need to do Is be persistent. I scored my first internship at a local investment bank. I called, called, and called some more. Eventually I got an interview where I could actually speak, and If you study your shit they'd take ya. I received a recommendation and now I'm living In NYC and working at a lucrative ( for my age - 26 ) international investment bank.

Europe didn't understand the task they were going to undergo. There are more sides to the immigration crisis than I can cover In a post. Europe's labor shortage seems to me the biggest contributor as to why they let so many In, In the first place. No one expected this, and now mass deportation would lead to revolt en masse. We're talking bad bad things. And don't take Merkel seriously, she's a liar and a shitty one at that. The EU bit off more than It could chew to attempt to be the champion of humanitarianism while at the same time resolving labor shortages. Both have failed.

If you don't mind asking, what's your alma mater and why bother with the master's if you got such a good job? Oh yeah and how much are you making?
>>
>>79484334
I really don't like any candidate. Populists have proven to be lackluster or totally batshit, so both Sanders and Trump are off my list. If Gary Johnson could even remotely stand a chance I'd vote for him. And I damn well may, It depends on what happens In the coming weeks at the Democratic convention. If Clinton loses due to FBI charges or probing I would probably vote Sanders. He Is so far left the Congress will push him to the correct position of a Democrat. Again, If Gary Johnson pulls of a miracle I'd take him, as I agree with his economic policies ( mostly ).

>>79484220
I went to a shit community college and transferred to a decent college, If you go the banking route what college you go to doesn't matter. Now If you go down the political route you'd want to go to Ivy league. But I see no point In It, It's more of something to brag about. And you'd be surprised at how little most care about your alma mater.

>>79484882
> What's your alma mater
>4chan
Nope.

>>79484882
I'm going for my masters part time, at nights. Only really because I have a love for geopolitics and have some sort of inferiority complex. I made around 150k + around 33k In bonus'. Those above me with another five years experience take home close to half a million plus bonus'.
>>
>>79485292
150K + 33K In bonus' last year *
>>
>>79485292
That's not bad at all. Thanks for shining some light on a possible career path.
>>
>>79486076
Next fiscal year I'm expecting an increase In pay grade by thirty percent. The double whammy of Poly Sci and Econ Is really the best bet for anyone looking to be an investment banker. Your role can be advisor to executives or being a proper investment banker. If you work your ass off In college and know your shit you can manage the dual role like myself. It ends up being far more lucrative.

Anyways, enough money talk. It's like asking a woman's age. Lets ask questions not involving how to be a banker. It sucks, you get blame shifted on you for no reason and idiotic leftists think you're Satan. If you can handle that then the money roles In. What sucks Is I support Sander's In most aspects, however voting for him would be a conflict of interest for me as he wants to smasha da big banks lika da FDR. So expect your life to be filled with moral grey areas. Anyways. Non-career talk begins now.

>and If Sanders Is the nominee there Is an even slimmer chance that Trump will become president.

Never change burnouts, no one with a job will vote for bernie
>>
>>79486859
It's sadly the case. If Sanders was just a god damn traditional socialist I could more easily align with him. Of course that would require my pay to be cut to shit, and of course the reinstatement of Glass–Steagall (plz no ). So I'm waiting for Johnson to pick a VP, hopefully one that Isn't fucking nuts ( Jesse Ventura, John McAfee, all the loony mainstream libertarians ).
>>
>>79487040
Johnson already picked a VP lmao.

See Gov. Bill Weld
>>
>>79487267
..... OH shit. If It weren't for the lack of name recognition he'd be a good vp candidate. I've been too busy with the Brexit bullshit and all the god damn blowback that's come with It. Stupid Breton's don't realize they're fucking capital Is an economic hub, and It's really fucking sensitive.

Does America have a clue what it's doing in the Middle East? People have tried to say 'it's about oil' because they want to ascribe some logic to American actions. It looks more like laughable incompetence to me. Do you believe america's actions in the Middle East are down to pure stupidity?
>>

It has to do with multi agency involvement along with this administrations obsession with toppling stabilizing dictators. Bashar Al-Assad wasn't as competent as his father, and due to the roots of fundamental Islamic belief In the Levant and the religious regression seen In Syria as opposed to say the 1970's and 80's a revolution was inevitable. However If the CIA didn't topple Muammar Gaddafi Libya wouldn't be an black market port to the Levant. Along with that the Federal government and the CIA back groups that fight each other. This was due to the chaos In the region. We moved In too fast, and with too little intel. Our best bet would've been to let Assad and Putin dismantle the Islamic state In Syria, and to put In power the religious majority In Iraq, as opposed to the minority. Sadly we are past that. And to be honest with our nations " No boots on the ground " stance we really have no choice but to fund and arm those on the ground while taking out high ranking officials from the sky. The issue with comes with the idea of an Islamic state. If you kill the third man from the top, It really doesn't matter they will simply find another to replace him, even If he's incompetent. As Sharia only requires a holy book and brutality. This Is something we don't understand In the states. We believe everyone, everywhere demands order. When In reality even If you cut the head of the snake It would simply regenerate. You must liberate the ideals. Not the people. And that's the grey area that we don't want to touch, because there Is no right way to do It. If you fuck It up you end up creating far more extremists than already exist. Hence why secular dictators In the middle east have proven to be the greatest stabilizing force. That Isn't to say the people aren't ready for democracy, some are. But until tensions decrease and hdi increases the world will constantly be dealing with fractured mid eastern states.
