I know its bad. I worked there right after high school and I'm going back to do the same exact thing. I lift a 5-70lb package onto a belt for 4 hours until the bell rings and I go home. But, as I said, the union gives you $1500/semester along with free health/vision/dental insurance. My plan is to simply ride that benefit train until I finish my associates where I'll probably take out a small loan to complete my studies. I'm not planning on becoming a driver, although that too has its benefits(big paycheck with great care package).

in the midwest, probably. in the PNW, probably not. it just depends on the city i guess. if you can manual draft already, just download a free trial of some cad program. they have student versions you can use for a few weeks. drafting principles on a computer or using a t square are the same, accuracy for the win. a community college is good too. some of those 2 year cad programs are kind of expensive at a private tech school.
