* End all Federal financial backing for college education. (Grants, loans, etc.)

* Restore bankruptcy rights to student loan borrowers.

* When a bankruptcy court absolves a student loan allow the lender to sue the school for half of the amount.

* Sit back and enjoy all the butt hurt and tears as schools are forced to fire entire departments, vet students, only issue worthwhile degrees for reasonable time/cost, and help students find employment.

Took out $11,490 in unsubsidized federal student loans. Started payments on 7/23/15 and it'll be paid off on 10/23/24. Payments are $164.94/month but I make about $4k/month post-tax (at 24) so it's no big deal.

Interest rates aren't great (6.55%) and I know I didn't take out a ton but point is student loans are cheap as fuck if you go to an in-state school, work to support yourself during college, and use the education to get a decent enough job.

The "I demand student loan forgiveness" thing pisses me off.

When I went to college I could have gone to the expensive school and lived on campus. But instead I went to the shitty local state school and lived at home. Why, because I could do it without going into debt. I worked while in school and graduated with 0 student loans. Not 1 dollar.

Now, my friends who went away to school at the name-brand college to "spread their wings and find themselves" graduate with huge debt and then complain how unfair it is. Well, they could have made sacrifices (like I did) so they could get a degree with no debt. Instead they didnt and now want a bailout. Hell, I have two MA degrees and no debt because I am not a retard.

Students who cant afford the price of school should do two years at a community college, which can be done without debt. Then they can work part time with the associates and get their final two years of the undergrad done. There ya go, problem solved. No need for a trillion dollar free college racket.

Unless you re a special snowflake, there is zero reason why you should graduate college with crippling debt.

>missing out
This is a big cultural thing we have. Colleges were about socializing and always have been. Recently (last 30+ years) the college zeitgeist is about partying and having the traditional experience. Telling a student to miss is is like a high school senior missing prom. Like, you look back at prom now and think it was dumb, but to be told you will miss out on waht is billed as the 'most magical moment' is difficult.

I think that is starting to change now. College is becoming more and more about vocations instead of the experience----at least the experience is secondary. This is due to globalization, the high cost, and the availability of college online. When our kids are ready to go, I think there will be less emphasis on the frat party or football game and more on getting a marketable degree quickly and most affordable as possible. Probably be online too.

Ever been to a college preview or orientation? They always push you toward whichever degree seems the most interesting to you because they get more money from a student that finishes their degree than one that drops out. It also makes the school look better. I wouldn't exactly call it a scam, but it does seem unethical to tell 18-year-olds that it's worth it to take loans out for "whichever degree is your passion."

The (((people))) issuing non-forgivable loans to fresh 18-year-old legal adults, on the other hand, are definitely conducting a usury scam that is legal because they wrote the rules to make it legal.
>>
>>79430291

Short about the Rockwool Foundation: it's an impartial, financially self-supporting institution which engages in activities for the public good. We carry out independent research into issues relevant to society, and develop innovative solutions to social problems in the form of practical interventions.

Now, the article, which is only available in Danish, presents the results on an analysis comparing Denmark and USA on two parameters: social mobility and education.

Key results: Danes are not better at breaking away from social heritage; poor kids becoming poor adults, etc. Despite having being PAID to take educations. Danes are not better at finishing educations or taking them in the first place either.

I work part time as an adjunct at a CC (I also have a real job). The community colleges Ive seen do a great job of laying out what associates degrees they offer and what the pay range is for those degrees. They see their missing as different than those of the 4 year university (well, it should be the 5 year university because that is now the standard time it takes to graduate).

But yes, what you said is correct. If seem some shit degrees get highlighted because they want to get and keep students. The two year schools have a different clientele I suppose.
>>
>>79437576

Are they federal loans? Your student loan interest is tax deductible up to 2,000 dollars so it's in your best interest to pay back just enough that you're paying 2,000 in interest every tax year. Write that off on your taxes for the next 5-6 years and enjoy the fact that you now have, effectively, an interest-free loan.
>>
>>79419892
Should have paid those interest payments.
>>
>>79439701

Most people going to community college are motivated because they want to advance their career. People who go to 4-year colleges are 18 and want the "college experience lol XD" so they're easier to trick while they're excited about making new friends and riding the cock carousel.

So who is this woman demanding pay for her education then and why is it right that that person be enslaved to her because she didn't plan?

College is a calculated investment and one you should only make if you have a specific purpose and have a well-reasoned plan to pay for it.

One of the problems is with our culture, which is turning out these parasites, who feel they are entitled to a college education at someone else's expense (after all, their education up to then was paid for by the nanny state), then spend their time in college directionless or pursuing worthless degrees.

>College is a calculated investment and one you should only make if you have a specific purpose and have a well-reasoned plan to pay for it.

This is why I think private student loans are so unethical. People are signing them when they're just now old enough to sign legally-binding agreements but still don't really understand what they're getting into. They just see lots of other people do it and assume it must be OK. It's hard for me to hold it against the people who made a financial decision that they didn't think through when they were fucking 18, but the banks know exactly what they're doing. They're like crocodiles sitting in the pond waiting for the thirsty, oblivious fawn to come take a drink of water with no idea of what's beneath the surface.

That's how debt slavery works. Usury is outlawed in the bible for a reason.

The germans paid ~900 billion euros in interest on the ~50 billion euros they received from the Marshall credit line after WW2.

In german schools they teach you how nice the americans were to us after WW2, giving us alot of money to rebuild the nation, and the amount of interest paid never gets mentioned.

Debt slavery. German word: Zinsknechtschaft. This is how the jews are enslaving the entire world, that's why banks and central banks are the keystones of global slavery.

National debt is another huge redpill. The national debt never gets paid off; the credit lines run out and are replaced with new credit lines. The 1% oligarchs collect more annual interest from national debt than what goes into the welfare system for millions of people.

Leeches, parasites, vampires.

If you calculate that with inflation and she borrowed the money in 1992, that's $44994.89 in 2015 dollars.
Maybe the dumb cunt should have tried to pay down her loan instead of just paying interest. If she was willing to borrow money to get a degree, she should have a high enough salary that paying down $45k should be a breeze.
I pay about $10k on my $200k mortgage a year, plus interest. I also paid down an extra $20k last year because I had the money to do it, and I plan to pay down another 30k over the next few years. My house has increased quite a bit in value and I've paid down more than a third of its original cost, so I'd probably end up with $150k if I sold right now.

It is called a LOAN

You are in college, you should know what a LOAN is.

Don't make the minimum monthly payments, don't get something with a double digit interest rate, work and go to school and it should be paid off in less than 10 years.

I mean fuck, 26,000 is a car loan, and car loans can't last longer than 10 years in a few states.

Did these people think this was free money?

It's what most people who can't "make it" do.

I got my master's (44K) in 2011, and in the past 5 years and I have maybe paid off 1K of principal, which has since risen to ~47K, since 1. couldn't find a job right away and 2. wasn't making enough to do anything more than pay just the interest payment. Only in the past year did I finally work up to a dank raise and can think about actually starting paying it off.

I advise anyone thinking about getting a graduate degree to ABSOLUTELY NOT. It will NOT help you get a job, and interest payments start to get pretty high when you're talking about 7% of 50, 60, 70, 80K+ each month.

of course the other hand that would only work if she married me because she actually loves and wants me not just to improve her financial situation ...
>>
>>79447295

I heard they adjust it based on your grades. Better grades = better chance of graduating and getting a job = lower risk investment = lower interest rate. Not sure if they adjust it based on the type of degree. If they don't, they should.

As far as federal student loans go, everyone gets the same interest rate. I think my subsidized loan was 6% and my unsubsidized loan was 7%. Or they might have both been 6% and the subsidized loan didn't accrue interest until I graduated. I don't remember, I paid mine off almost 2 years ago.

>even basic math

I'm starting to think you people bantz so much you don't even realize you're doing it. Anyway, here's the long answer.

I took advanced math classes in high school. I had one lesson in Honors Algebra II where we learned how exponential functions work and applied it to compound interest. I also had one college-level economics class where we still didn't really learn what a loan is and how it works. I was a good student in high school and took high-level math classes, so I imagine the vast majority of high school students get no direction on how finance works since high school for any students who aren't smart enough for honors/advanced placement/gifted programs is basically taxpayer-funded babysitting. I learned more about finance from the actual jew teaching money management Merit Badge in Boy Scouts (you can't make this up) than I ever did in high school. I didn't see the compound interest formula (pic related) until late college. So no, (((they))) do not teach basic finance in high school in America.
>>
>>79448641
Supposed to, absolutely. I'm paying minimum (still, 5 years later) because I wasn't making a high enough salary to support actual progress-making payments until late last year. I make enough now to easily do like $1000/mo toward it, but its just so fucking hard to do that knowing it'll STILL take like 4 years at that rate, and it means I won't be able to buy anything nice. I just need to suck it up and make some progress so the interest isnt killing me.

Modern Day Slavery

Whips and chains are hard to justify. It looks bad and people generally just feel bad saying this is a free country when we have all the black people chained up picking cotton.

All this has been fixed.

Modern day slavery. Paper is cheaper than metal and they own you for the rest of your lives. College, mortgages, credit cards and car notes. All your "retirement" accounts are vested fully in the stock market which is looted every 5-15 years which keeps siphoning off any wealth you may think you have through as others have shown in this thread math tricks.

Put $100 into the retirement account and it drops 50% you now have to make 100% to break even.

Take a student loan of 26k and it turns into 100K.

"Buy" a $200k house and pay it off after 30 years and you're the proud owner of a $388 house.

Slavery didn't disappear. It just now has a much more user friendly look and feel to it.

I got a job for $20/hr three weeks out of college with no experience, and I owe $16K. I could pay this off in 3-4 years, if I'm lazy, or sooner if I buckle down.

Debt isn't going to be a problem if you're proactive in getting a job. Run through a few job sites and find some jobs.

HERE'S THE SECRET THOUGH, if you find a job that you aren't qualified for (by a great margin E.G. 5+ years of experience), don't bother.

However, this shows that the company is willing to hire people, so go to the company website instead and send in a cold resume.

Only applying directly to jobs will most likely get your shit trashed. They only find the first 5-10 qualified applicants, and then they dump the rest without even looking.

After all, why waste your time? Boss man is on your ass and you need that position filled now.

But the great thing about cold resumes is that HR doesn't bother with them until they have a job lined up. So instead of being immediately trashed, you get put to the side and get priority when a new job opens.

The job they offer you might not be what you initially wanted. However, if it pays well then suck it up. You aren't going to get that perfect job from your fairy god mother, you have to earn it.

>the libs are seriously trying to pretend emulating this american college debt system of uncapped prices and spiralling out of control interest is a good idea
>the very same libs who back in their uni days stormed admin offices to protest a very small administration fee on their dirt cheap degrees

It's election day you cunts, don't fuck this up.

Don't sign a contract for a loan unless you actually understand and agree to the terms.

Some people assume native Americans get free school.

They don't necessarily, it would depend on the tribe.

We live in a world where we have access to the largest library of information from our pockets.

Colleges literally try to deter men with patronising and sexist, presumptuous "No means no, and if she's passed out you probably shouldn't stick your wee-wee in her" mandatory classes.

Their leftist brainwashing agenda is common knowledge, shit it's done right out in the open for everyone to see.

Each student is a brainwashed clone of another.

There is an over-saturation in the market of college educated workers to the point where a degree is meaningless.

The prices have even hiked up enough to force employers to train on the job rather than expect a degree from younger applicants.

Lets be honest. That debt is the well deserved badge of stupidity for failing the litmus test of intelligence, that is the modern higher 'education' system.

Work, grind, invest. Find a cushy, low-laying job that you can handle and do indefinitely, and throw a bit of cash into some investments over time. That way you start in the green, rather than in the red, fighting, climbing, and failing to get back up.

You get as much credit card credit as you can get, before you graduate.

max the cards out paying off the student loans.

declare bankruptcy once you get a job.

weasel out of much of the credit card debt as possible.

Yeah it's a compound loan. Makes more sense when you see what all the variables mean. I think people just pay back whatever it takes to keep the bill collectors from calling them, not realizing that they aren't climbing out of the hole, just sinking slightly slower. They understand that they need to pay the loan back, but they don't understand that they have to pay it back faster than it grows. Convincing them why it's in their best interest to pay off the loan as fast as possible, unless you are investing the money at a higher rate than the loan interest is absolutely a lost cause. Talk to most normal people about the present and future value of money (see formula) and you get a blank stare in seconds.

>So what you're saying is that your highschools are complete shit

Correct.

>We also didn't have any stratification

They have advanced classes because American schools don't fail students. So you'll have kids who should be multiple grades behind in the same class as everyone else. Everything gets geared towards the dumbest and least attentive students because that's the only way they move along with their peers. The higher the grade, the more obvious it becomes.

It's pretty similar here in Canada.

Special snowflake optimism. They think they'll be handed an easy well-paid job that gives them social status. Those only go to the nepotists.
