Pinochet was a general in Chile's people-starving miserable commie-run government. He was sick of seeing his people deprived and stolen from and treated like garbage and eventually he got mad enough to want to kill -ALL- the commies who were starving his people.

He drove his army into the capital and jailed all the disgusting communists running the system that oppressed his nation.

Pinochet cracked ~2000 commie skulls, chased off ~200,000 commies and sympathizers, and kept an iron grip on Chile's political system while letting the market flourish.

Chile rapidly had one of, if not the highest human development index and quality of life of any South American country, it's people thrived, and it became the envy of the continent.

Not only he killed a lot of people that disagree with him, aka commies and socialist, he also killed many innocent people whose only crime was being registrered on one of those parties even though they didn´t take part on a single meeting of said parties (some of them were 14 years old), he also killed christians and moderates who started questioning him for the human rights violations, he also give the control of many state owned enterprise, such a SQM the biggest producer of lithium carbonate on the world to his son in law, and many other to his friends. Oh, and the big reason of the deaths and illegal detention was that the Allende supporter and other factions, were allegedly holding weapons and ammunition in case of a military coup (he wasn´t a 2nd amendment fan), to this day they are still trying to find said weapons, because you see the Allende goverment wasn't very alligned with the USSR, discarding their violent ways of getting into power.

He also is responsible for a economic crisis bigger than the one produced by Allende, during 1982, which in the end make all the killing really unnecesary.

I've got no doubt that Allende did an awful job, but there was a democratic solution that didn't involved the killing of part of the population, the violation of many rights and living under a curfew for 17 years

He was better than the alternative at the time - commies that kill people who disagree with them, fuck up the economy for decades, require a civil war to get rid of, followed by shock therapy to re-implement capitalism.

The economic and social outcomes of all the US-backed military dictatorships are much better than the Soviet satellite states. It goes to show that even with government repression and corruption, not disintegrating the free market and entrepreneurship goes a long way for the common man.

You might think I'm a tin head but it was the U.S who funded the USSR. We gave them huge loans from the 1930s through 1980.

The Korean War had Russian soldiers fighting with American and south American troops.
It was a war in the bag and we could have ended Chinsee communism but fucking Truman said no because secretly we supported both communist regimes and it was needed in the future nwo plan.
Just like the u.s funded hitler through the rothchilds, bushes, and rockafellers.

Vietnam was funded by uSSR as we gave them loans.

>Chile’s copper industry is a hybrid. Codelco, the state mining firm, competes with private ones. In the past Codelco has suffered from a lack of investment, but that is improving. A change in corporate governance in 2010 is slowly making it more like a private firm, by freeing the board from political control.
>Copper has been kind to Chile. It provides 20% of GDP and 60% of exports. Thanks to it, Chile’s economy is expanding by nearly 6% annually, while inflation and unemployment are enviably low. Poverty rates have tumbled; public services are mostly good. Chile has other strengths, such as agriculture, tourism and even high-tech. But small shifts in the copper price make headlines.

>starving
There were shortages occasionally, but that's nothing compared to the crash of 1982. Allende didn't starve anyone.
Secondly, Pinochet didn't just lead the army in. He sent in tanks, jets, and armed death squads and repeatedly bombed parts of the city. This was followed by a wave of repression and state terror that killed at least 3,000 in a matter of months. Tens of thousands more were tortured or imprisoned. This was all without a semblance of due process.
Lastly, Chile didn't do quite so well as you say under his rule. The first decade or so especially saw mass privatization, lack of social services, economic instability, and sharp increases in poverty, unemployment, inflation, and other issues, while foreign businessmen, a few native elite, and politicians faithful to the regime lined their pockets. The beginnings of economic growth often attributed to Pinochet's policies didn't occur until he re-nationalized some key copper businesses.

Macri? He means well I think, but he has minority in congress and most provinces are still governed by peronists so he can't do any deep reforms. That, and the fact that the Kirchners basically built all their political power by shitting on the 90s, when we did a lot of pro-market reforms that were good in spirit but we ended up in the 2001 crisis because of budget deficit supported by debt.

Still, he's not a liberal (actual liberal, not the retarded american use of it), he's more of a market-friendly social-democrat. He also surrounded himself with keynesian economists and very few liberal economists so there is that as well.

Oh by no means, i belive in nationalaisation, however it was impossible for the state to keep up the efficiency of a private company on that case, i know what happend when they privatized, however that is the result of the risk this country has because there are people going easy on the Nationalize everithing bandwagon, as such the privates made more money by just stripping the railways and selling them

Last week our president dropped out of talks with Turkey to receive over 100k refugees.
The few we have are either Africans who hope to use Brazil as a stepstone to reach Europe, or crazy commies who converted to Islam, because they're descendant from Arabs. Christian arabs though, who emigrated from the Middle East to flee turks and other muslims.

O really the national owned mines are going well for Chile and chile refuses to give them up

why is that?

You know what the private companies did with the trains? Fucking nothing for decades then sold them to the state for a shiton of money already destroyed

then the state shut down most of them and re privatized what was left

The new private companies aren't doing anything either to improve nothing they are just munching benefits from the government and rising the tariffs

why do you use the argentinian flag if you do not know anything about my country?

Why can't you just kill yourself?

That's not true. Most of the left-wing uprisings in the region received minimal or no funding from the USSR. Most of them just wanted freedom for the working people and for foreign businesses to stop trashing the country. In many cases the USA literally fabricated claims of USSR involvement just as an excuse to support right-wing regimes.

So did the fucking communists. Listen, the guy was sitting around watching as Marxist scum literally destroyed the country. Commies aren't nice people, they're fucking animals, remember how many innocent people Che and Fidel killed?

So he pulled a coup and put an end to it. And sometimes, putting an end to Marxist control of your country means killing people. It was ugly, but it had to be done.

We love Pinochet because he objectively saved his country from a far, far worse fate by making the hard choice to brutalize a subversive element in his country. Sure it was fucked up, but look at Chile now. It's not Uruguay, but it's pretty great, I met my wife there. And unlike, oh I don't know, Venezuela, Chile is still going to exist in twenty years because its economy hasn't been totally fucked by mindless Socialist weasels. There are still some nationalized industries, which is to be expected in a country so reliant on natural resources, but because they didn't go Full Commie and focus down on their monoculture copper or zinc industry or whatever, they have a diversified economy that can absorb some stress before snapping.

All of this is thanks to Pinochet, who saved Chile from becoming Venezuela 2.0. He was a brutal hero for a brutal time.
>>
