Most of them either do that or work in the sugar plantations. Dominican republic is one of the few countries where the lighter your skin color the more you are liked. Almost all of the elite are white and a lot of the haitians work as their servants and security. Recently the country has begun doing deportations of haitians. The anchor baby rule doesnt help them because if one of your ancestors was illegal youre considered illegal.
