Let's pretend that Atlantis were real, and it was discovered that there was an indigenous population of Europeans inhabiting the island. During the whole operation wallstreet fiasco, 2 groups of people came out of it, the liberals who opposed to capitalist regime, and the libertarians who didn't like the fact that the government had a hand in the wealth distribution. Do you know what both groups have in common? They were just as greedy as the people runnin the banks. The liberals wanted the money redistributed to themselves, and the libertarians believed in the right to have money. It was ironically the 1%ers who ended up supporting both sides of the fucking movement.
I come from an area where people don't work for a living; they live to work, and they enjoy it. They don't even go for the money sometimes. They like to help eachother out. We don't make things about self-interest, and we live in peace.

this is where the misunderstanding comes from, you said yourself they're not that powerful, however they still manage to suppress and criminalize speech against you.
what i said, or what i intended to say was that they require very little control over the general populace to do this, and there are plenty of willing useful idiots and professional victims to help them accomplish their goals. these people have literally come out and said that the biggest terrorist threat to the US is white nationalism, and used it as an excuse to grow budgets, and their ability to take away your rights by force. they do this so they can go after actual dissenters that present a threat, normal people like you will likely never be the target of foul play, you will just be shushed and shamed by other citizens.
the mistake is thinking that the government needs a lot more power than it already has, and secondly that it will use that power to target ordinary citizens. they can and will make life as difficult and unrewarding for anyone that tries to stand up to them, meanwhile all the majority of people will hear is that a white nationalist ultra-right christian terrorist is causing trouble with his hitler-mecha.
