Housing prices haven't returned to their pre-crash highs, but they've recovered quite a bit. Roughly speaking, they're about 80-100 percent higher than they were in 2000.

And how have millennials done since then? According to census data, the median 25-34 year old earned about $35,000 in 2000. The median 25-34 year old household earned $61,000.

In 2014, adjusted for inflation, median millennial income was down to $31,000. Median household income was down to $54,000.

In other words, millennial income is down about 10 percent while house prices are up 80-100 percent. Just in the past four years alone, housing prices are up by a third. This makes things a lot more comprehensible: millennials just can't afford the housing market these days. Unlike boomers and some Xers, they don't have an existing house that's appreciated, which helps offset the cost of a new house.

This isn't even an exaggeration. Talk to any old person and they'll tell you how cheap it was.

Literally anyone could buy a house back in the day.

I bought a brand new car in 2009 for $30,000. That same exact car today is literally selling for $60,000. I don't know what the fuck is going on or why no one is talking about it.

My old man bought a house for $28k in 2001. 28-fucking-grand. He sold it for ~$200k in 2006.
I could literally buy a $28k house outright at the this moment. No loan, no banks, cash payment upfront. I can't even afford the deposit on a house at current prices though. Shit's fucked so I bought a bus and I'm kitting it out as a motor home. My old man wants to travel, so I give him the bus, he gives me his house.

>Like 80-90% of the country lives within 100 miles of the coast

This is the problem. The rest of the country will NEVER improve if people don't live there and develop it.

Instead, people keep moving out to the cities.

Unfortunately, all that means is that property in coastal areas continues to get more and more expensive, and our government refuses to let the market punish people trying to live unrealistically.

There is no good reason for instance, why minimum wage in cities should be set differently from minimum wage in flyover states, except for the fact that there is a huge, artificial bubble being propped up by welfare subsidization keeping people in coastal cities.

Remove the incentive to live in the giant cities, and people will have to develop elsewhere. This will bring money to other regions of the USA and let them develop, which will synergistically affect other regions as well.

Not only that, but it addresses the effect of diminishing returns on highly-developed areas too, allowing us to raise the floor on wages for the whole nation.

This is the reality of our economy.

Coastal cities are in a bubble state right now, and will collapse soon, as property prices people out even harder.

This is big. The last woman I saw in my age range, was addicted to meth. that was around two years ago. The USA is an old and dying nation, there are no young people. Because of that, and the drain that the older generations have on the country, young people are completely fucked as slaves for them.
Wait ten more years, and boomers will pass a law saying all breast milk has to go for them since they cant chew, the babies can eat steak.

Try living in a bigger western europe city with mass immigration that gets housing paid by your money and increases further the price of housing. Buying a house here in Vienna costs more than one million €

>>79157194

My local city has apartments under $500 a month in decent areas. Sucks to be you.

Also, teenagers TOTALLY get management positions. If you work at 16, it is totally possible for you to make manager by 18 or 19. I have friends who did just that when they were in college.

>>79157330
>>79157434

This nation needs teachers. You can get nearly $15 an hour doing ANY teaching job anywhere in the nation. Quit thinking you're too good to do hard work. I don't even have a lot of money or any investments. But it's trivial to afford a modest house on a teacher's salary almost anywhere in the country aside from giant degenerate coastal hive cities.
>>
Median wage is probably brought down by all the entitled millennials who refuse to get a job that's "beneath" them. Oh and also the $200k debt the millenial carries from his art degree and his year traveling will hit that average pretty hard too.

My son bought a house at 23, same age as I did. He's 29 and has about 100k equity in it I bet. Maybe if you all didn't wait around for the "perfect job" that let you "express yourself" and actually got your hands dirty, then you'd be fine.

Into the trash this goes. Millennials aren't buying homes because they are afraid of commitment. They are perpetual renters because they always want to "move" and "travel" and live where the action is. They aren't willing to move to where houses cost 50k with a 5k down payment because it's "nowhere." They want a home in the city they cannot afford because they haven't reached their mid 30s when they actually start making real money in a career (assuming they have a real skill).

Most of these places that are "nowhere" aren't that bad. Plenty of cheap places in Texas and there are real jobs and real economies in Texas. Same in California, you can live in the central valley in places like Fresno and find a home for 50-80k and still find real work.

>>79156896
>the drain that the older generations have on the country

I'm tired of this meme. So you think someone working the same career or industry for 30+ years shouldn't have a higher position and pay then some millennial new to the career? That is the way it is and has always been. Millennials need to work their way up if they want anything, but instead they want everything now. Part of this is because this generation is so brainwashed with socialism they think anything "old" is bad and just because they are young they can do better than older co-workers.

>I make 23k as a retail manager in a shitty chain in the southern USA.

That's your fault. You didn't go to college to get a degree or learn a trade to make more money. Instead you settled with some wagecuck minimum wage job and since you stuck around instead of moving on, you became the manager of your shit store and now have to babysit high school kids, college students, and retards.

no, they should get that money from actually working.
Medicare/Medicaid, and social security payments are nigger tier welfare, they should get none of it. If they want to live for free, they can move in with their kids.
If they didn't contribute to the US workforce by creating more children and instead chose to have fun buying useless shit, there is no reason for the children of OTHER PEOPLE that spend their own money raising children, should also pay for the retirement programs of the childless. maybe they should have had some fiscal responsibility and saved for it rather than living off the government tit in their old age.

Stupid parents didn't invest for their kids
Stupid kids chose a stupid career path
Stupid everyone only consume, never invest

So with boomers as parents, millenials as kids and materialism as the dominant ideology you get... losers who keep complaining about something they brought upon themselves.

Those who don't have stupid parents and didn't choose a stupid career path and invest instead of buy dumb stuff are still doing fine. The """system""" isn't fucked up, it's the same as it as always been and can not change, it's just that we have a strong influx of dumb people due to increased quality of life and long period of peace in the west.

Not only that, but 30 years of experience is a valuable resource to have, and that merits its own increase in pay.

>They could literally work part time, afford a house, and pay for college

No one, literally no one did this on part time work. First off, College was expensive back in the baby boomer days. That's why fewer Americans went to college. No gubmit buxs to go.

Homes were about the same price or less if you consider inflation

>muh baby boomers 28k house
Is a 300k+ house today depending on the market. No baby boomer paid cash from part-time labor to buy a decent sized house. They didn't have enough cash and back then banks actually gave a shit and issued high interest loans to people with jobs and CREDIT (which part time laborers and young college kids did not have).

Also what part-time work are you referring to? Factories? Those were only in limited areas and you only worked those part-time if you were going to school, not to buy a house. You worked full time to buy a house with a wife who either did minor work or her father helped pay for a home.

Millennials like to bitch about how much cheaper it was then, and generally it was. But what millennials tend to not realize is that everything was cheaper because the government was much smaller and less intrusive.

The only boomer I know who bought a really nice house on part time labor in college, bought a house that was basically condemned and he spent free time fixing it up. After a few years he had a nice home, but no millennial would commit like that. They want a new home NOW.

I did this, and I only graduated 6 years ago.

Worked at a convenience store full-time. Roomed with a friend in a tiny house we rented. With the addition of the Pell Grant(and I don't think anyone can really say the Pell isn't a good thing), I was able to get through college without any loans and live comfortably.

>no, they should get that money from actually working.

Well... yea. They do actually. The thing is, if you work for a long time, you get experience. If you work at the same place long enough that experience gets you to higher positions. That gets you more money.

Do you honestly believe the labor of some millennial 0-5 years into their career is worth more than someone doing the same job for 30 years? No. Experience is worth more and payment and positions reflect this.

>social security

You don't have an option to not pay into SS and to not receive payments. Also it's pretty fucked up to say a baby boomer at age 65 still working but receiving social security payments shouldn't get that money. They forcefully paid into it their entire lives more money than any living millennial today has paid into SS.

>medicare/medicaid

If they stay employed they likely won't use this crap because they are on a company insurance plan. If they work longer, they can retire and pay their own healthcare you stupid nigger.

>If they want to live for free, they can move in with their kids

And burden their kids? Millennials would bitch about that more than their parents still working.

Retarded rambling that has nothing to do with older people with experience in the work place.

People move to cities and the coast because there are fuck all good jobs (particularly ones women can do), utilities and development in your rural areas. Welfare has nothing to do with the problem, because if you can't get a job in the city there's fuck all chance that you will get a job in a rural town, let alone be able to afford to move there.
Unless your government decides to incentivize living in rural areas and develops your healthcare and internet infrastructure in fly over states, nobody has any reason to move there.

>yes yes work hard never mind getting a decent job requires getting a college degree which automatically puts you in debt of hundreds of thousands of dollars

You don't have to go to an expensive ivy league school. Almost every city has a small university or community college. Most states have job commissions that have local offices that offer job training and that can put you in touch with trade organizations. You chose to move to another city and go to a school that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. I went to a cowtown engineering and science school, and my total tuition was less than $80k, and the Pell Grant covered the majority of it.

>yes yes get a good job which requires you to move to a half decent city where schlomo shekelstein take half your income in rent

Every town needs teachers. Every town needs welders. Every town needs plumbers. Did you know that the average hourly rate for a pipe fitter(A GUY WHO PUTS PIPES TOGETHER!!!!) is $23/hour?

>what do you mean you don't have 100k for a down payment for a shit box house? you're not working hard enough

If other people are willing to make that down payment, it is a fair price. Aside from that, banks are foreclosing on houses all the time, and in non-degenerate areas, most property is cheap because you have liberals fleeing to more 'diverse' areas.

I'm a millenial. I have a BA in Communication - worthless in some people's opinion, I know, but that's not the point. After college, my first job was shit, salaried for 30k. Did it for 6 months and quit bc it was too shitty. Second job, 30k salary + commission. I did that for 15 months and made 39k in that year. My 3rd job, I'm salaried for 45k + commission doing the same thing as my last job; the least amount I can make this year is 59k w/ current commission structure. FYI all of these jobs require a college degree, so I'm glad I stuck it out to finish that, even though its just a BA in Communication.

I'm 27, just moved back in w/ my parents to save up for my own house. The point is making it is doable. Even with a "worthless" degree like mine. You gotta go take a shitty first and second job so that your 3rd one is actually decent. I didnt want to do that at first bc entitled millenial syndrome, but eventually I said fuck it and just started working.

I have to think you're trolling at this point.

By your logic I can just say it's not the boomers fault, it's the greatest generation because they raised us! But wait, the silent generation raised them! Etc etc you can't save money because some homo erectus was a shitty parent.

But that did not adress what I said. If I want to have two kids at the age of 30, how is that worse for the white race than if I chose to have two kids at age 20? The only difference is I would be able to give my children a better life with more resources, also I might make a better father because I have accumulated more life experience. At 30 you will be 48 when your kids reach adult age, that aint old?

I'll keep typing in english for the other lurkers sake

Austrian house prices are a fucking joke. Like you said, buying a house or a flat in Vienna without a way above average income is damn near impossible.

Soft gentrification my ass, my grandma had to leave Vienna because her landlord raised her rent by 20%, saying he had to make more money or he himself couldn't afford to live there anymore.

You can also get fuck all in any decent towns sorrounding Vienna. Brunn am Gebirge, Mödling, Maria Enzersdorf, all towns with decent infrastructure are way too expensive. 500,000€ for a fucking 2 bedroom apartment.

Fuck this, seriously
>>
>>79162207
Because they'll have autism and you'll only have two.

Parents raised kids for our entire history without private schools, vegan tendies, and Xboxes. Where did this idea come from that you need all this capital to raise kids? You stop buying gadgets and make it work.
>>
It's even worse in the UK desu. My parents bought our house for £160,000 20 years ago - today it's worth £650,000. £160,000 today would get you a fairly shit terraced or maybe semi-detached house in the north, or a shed in the south. I expect to be earning £25-£35k per year for the next 10 years or so, but it's still likely that I'll be renting for all that time, either as part of a house share with other 'young professionals' or maybe my own flat if I don't want to be able to save any money. This housing market is fucking over our entire generation and we'd probably be angrier about it if we weren't a bunch of cucks who spend our entire lives glued to our phones.

Extermination through austerity, they demonize poor and unemployed people in the media as lazy and once you end up on the street, american cops (wearing the jewish Star of David as their 'badge of authority') are free to kill off your 'useless eater' ass without repercussions.

All part of the jew plot to reduce the world population to 500 million. The heroin epidemic, low birth rates among white people, mass abortions, advertising sexual deviancy, the porn epidemic, mandatory vaccines for goyim kids.

Black ghetto niggers get free section 8 housing, white people cant even afford to pay the trailer fees. They want white people on the streets so the zionist badge cops kill them off. White people = IQ too high, not easily controllable, biggest threat to the Jew World Order.

Black nignogs, sandniggers = easily controlled through lies and propaganda.

In 2015, the relative value of £160,000.00 from 1990 ranges from £292,700.00 to £483,700.00.

So their house price doubled when you account for inflation. That's not that crazy if it's a metro suburb. Have you looked in less populated areas?

Lol you kids will never get it. There's millennials who started with less and have far more than you. You spent your late teens and early twenties on drugs or with your face in a screen. You're waking up now and realizing the world didn't hand you a fully realized adult life. It's just sad.

I live outside of "hip urban metros", so no, I'm not in the slightest bit entitled.

Thing is: Unless you have a car out here, you're pretty much stuck in your town after about 8PM. There's literally no public transport after 8PM, so good luck going out with friends somewhere if you want to drink, because you can't.

And since drinking is pretty much all we Austrians do at clubs, festivals, fests or whatever event, you have the choice of either staying sober or paying ridicolous amounts of money for a cab.
>>
>>79159192
my cousin actually did this recently. Took a few years but he did. He's obsessed with cars as well so half of his property is a giant garage. good luck.

What do you think the boomers did?

OH! You all come from upper middle class families! You expect to be able to have your own upper middle class lifestyle at 25. Bad news: while upper middle class kids do that sometimes, it's usually only the ones who work their asses off from their teens and go to a professional school. You aren't automatically entitled to the same luxuries you grew up with. Most people live in these places you call shitholes. Most people don't live reality TV lifestyles. What makes you deserve more than most people?
>>
>>79154258
Doesn't help that most Millenials want to live in places where real estate is god awful expensive like San Francisco and New York.

Seriously if they would just suck it up and take a job in Omaha or Houston they wouldn't have this problem.
