Norfolk fag here, just drove from L.A. to VA Beach and I can tell you for a fact Virginians are the most reasonable conversationalists.
I live in the outskirts of Richmond. The highschool I went to of about 3k kids was 77% white, 15% asian and the rest were a mix of minorities. I could count the amount of blacks in my school on my fingers. I couldn't have wished for anything better. That and I'm an hour from the beach and an hour away from the mountains. One thing I absolutely cannot stand about living in Virginia, is the fucking people. They are ridiculously retarded and absolutely oblivious to anything or anyone around them-- a very selfish attitude.
In NY, people would move out of the way for you in grocery stores. In VA, the retards would sit in an isle blocking everyone-- if you try to say excuse me, they get startled as if they have no idea what they're doing wrong.
If you ask for help at a store, a Virginian will say "i dont know, it's not my job". In NY, "I'm not sure, let me see if I can get someone to help you".
Then there's the driving...in DC they're dumb and crazy. In Richmond, they're retarded and slow. You will need to honk most often to get them to move off a green light as it generally takes about 3 seconds.

It ain't even going to the oceanfront yet bruh. It's going to towne center, which is the Virginia beach version of a downtown because they are too asspained about Norfolks downtown. Once the lightrail turns from the hospital to ODU and the navy base it might be decent. That's another billion dollars though.
The Tide is actually the most expensive lightrail in the country. All public transportation has to be subsidized by the state per rider. Most run about 2-3$ the state has to pay per rider per ride. The tide costs 6,7$ more that the fees dont pay for.

Part of the issue is how the cities were formed. Portsmouth and Norfolk got big first and became cities due to the navy. They then looked at nearby counties and towns to annex. So South Norfolk County is now chesapeake, and Princess Anne county is now Virginia Beach. Both of which, do not want to cooperate with Norfolk the only real city center with actual non-meme skyscrapers.

One of the Virginia Beach council members is currently asspained with what virginia beach is considering as the value of the lightrail extension. Currently of huge housing buildings in towne center.. There is currently 60% vacancies in them. There is also 50%+ more vacanies in the apartments directly near independence by the Best Buy. Yet, Virginia beach wants to build another luxery condo housing tower. It also assumes that if the lightrail passses by, then apartment buildings will go up in their place which will generate additional tax revenue.
What Virginia Beach doesn't understand though, is that even though they by statistics have the most people of the seven cities.. They also have a shit ton of land. They are the least population dense of the cities. Norfolk is almost 3x as population dense as Virginia Beach.
