Britain politics is quiet for the most part but goes insanely overboard in terms of happenings during general elections, referendums etc.

however it dies down quickly, except this time i do not see an end to these happenings.

>tories in leadership kerfuffle
>labour civil war/blairite purge
>media going full fear mongering over brexit
>no-one has a plan on what to do moving forward after brexit

>>
The UK is Germany’s third-largest export market. It is the fifth-largest for France and Italy. It is absurd to think these countries would stop selling to Britain or put tariffs on British exports. The British would respond in kind, and Europe cannot afford a trade war. The EU did not create the existing trade patterns. They were already in place. The EU’s members will not allow Brussels to disrupt them.

Nor did the EU create the patterns of investment. Britain’s banks channel global capital and are a huge source of investment for the Continent. The EU is hardly going to hamper that flow by blocking investments.

As for regulations that could force EU banks to relocate jobs and resources to Frankfurt, this misses a number of points. Given Europe’s weakness, the burden is on the EU to show continuity. It needs the flow of capital.

Further, it is the clients who determine the world’s banking hubs. London has been a traditional banking center preferred by foreign clients. New York—not Frankfurt—is the alternative. If clients had wanted to bank in Frankfurt, they would have done so.

Obviously, nothing will happen in the immediate future. But it is not clear to me that there will be any real economic blowback. The UK is not Greece. Attempting to shun the British carries heavy potential consequences. Anything imposed on the British will resonate on the Continent. And Germany—which gets almost 50% of its GDP from exports—is not likely to let anyone hinder that trade.

The economic impact of the UK leaving the EU is minimal because the EU—not Britain—is the weak player. The EU is fighting with Poland over political changes… has criticized Hungary on human rights… is still engaged in the Greece disaster… has an emerging Italian banking crisis. Additionally, Finland is in economic trouble, and anti-EU parties are gaining strength.

The EU has so many internal issues they are hard to count. Its retaliation is the last thing Britain should fear.

No we aren't, we aren't until we've officially left the EU

"Prepare for surprises. If I were the EU leadership (and we must assume they are intelligent and cunning), I would begin with a ‘hard cop’ routine, of aloof resentment, with hints of menace. Then, when enough silly panic had been spread in Britain (this is what the Bad Losers’ Alliance – which has now replaced the Remain Campaign - are now working on, very hard) they can come up with a new offer, which at the very least keeps us in the single market and requires a large contribution from us, and at the very most requires either a new referendum or the endorsement of the public in a snap election."

>>79128201
Yup.
For the EU to cut off UK trade, they would have to have an established global trading financial centre, but with Deutsche bank barely above water, and Germany's financial commitments across the EU such a thing is decades away.

Meanwhile last time I checked, London is still trading everything and anything, all over the world, euro funbucks included.

Also don't forget Italy and Spain, two traditionally strong EU economies still in total shit street, with France not doing much better (basically surviving because of direct trading with the UK and Germany)

If EU wins by sowing economic distress until the UK capitulates, it will spread around the world.

The economy will decline in the US. And when the economy declines in the US, voters turn against the incumbent. The """clever""" EU strategem may bring the UK back at the cost of winning Trump the election.

Am i the only one who think that even if Brits voted to leave, the next PM will never triggers article 50 to get out of the EU ? I think it's too good to be true...

With all of the medias shitstorm, revealing their true liberal face by scaring off everyone, if, and i think it will happen, the UK doesn't leave the EU, the medias propaganda and the actual state of the market and currency, will discourage others to leave the EU.

What is the atmosphere in UK right now ? Because there's no medias in France that write a paper without trying to scaring us, there's even one who wants the falling of the UK to show to others how bad it will be for us to leave UE

Okay, friend. Let's talk about Brit politics. So far, you've added nothing to the conversation, or even to get it rolling. Start.

Tony Blair wasn't a conservative, but New Labor definitely had a more (classically) liberal bent then the Labor of Corbyn. This probably confuses some Americans. This is irrelevant, though, because Blair is irrelevant.

Obviously there's political instability and economic uncertainty but this was always going to be the case. Labour imploding maybe a little out of the blue but still all desu well within acceptable limits. So far.

The media can only harp on for so long before looking increasingly ridiculous. BBC were visibly disappointed at having to grudgingly report the FTSE 3.25% rebound yesterday.
>>
>>79132417
It must be stressed that they only "went right" economically from a Thatcherite perspective, which means nothing in the 21st Century because the Soviet Union doesn't exist anymore

>>
>>79131555
>>79131555
Thats the media furore here too. Its all buthurt liberal globalist news telling us how fucked everything is, and how there are protests outside parliament.
But honestly, Britain is functioning as normal, noone is going to accept an interim PM with "remain" leanings, it just won't fly - if Cameron (a remainer) cannot handle the EU exit, then there is no way any other "remainer" can be accepted by the populous to do the job.
So, once we get a stable Conservative party with a "leaver" as interim PM, article 50 will be declared, and we will commence our 2 year exit negotiations.
It just won't fly any other way, if through some serious fuck up, it doesn't go that way, there will be rioting of an unseen kind on the streets and the country will collapse, GG, nobody wants that here or in the EU.
In that instance the royals are obliged to step in etc...

In terms of atmosphere though- there is a very obviously noisy butthurt reamin side, though number in a only a few million, and a very quiet, somewhat smug leave side that is waiting to see the drama play out.

I'm sure there will be some fracas with the Scots, but as I undestand it the EU line is already revealed as Scotland cannot remain in the EU while the UK leaves, as they are the same political entity. So maybe there will be another referendum on Scotland's position within the UK.

So when will france become an ancilliary memeber of the frAnglo-sphere?

I'm wondering just what a snap election will do. Obviously the plan now for the EU and the Sore Losers of the Conservative part is to try and make the results seem nominally as BAD AS POSSIBLE to scare people into regretting their vote to leave. This might make a new referendum or election endorsement of remaining possible. On the other hand, this could simply make the Norway solution far more palatable and the path of lease resistance.

But part of me wonders if this essentially new voting block lifted from the corpse of the labor party will be affected. They are utterly disillusions - they cant be made to fear precisely because their economic situation is already so bleak. What does the stock market tanking 5% mean to them?

I think that if a snap election were held come October and Labor and Sore Losers Party were still campaigning on a very pro-EU stance, you just might see UKIP make some real gains. This might be harmed by all the baggage associated with UKIP, but there is no other party with the brand built up like UKIP to catch the gains from campaigning against the EU.

If UKIP can win enough seats, they then can force UKIP into a coalition for concessions on EU. The real question is would the conservatives play ball or go into the bosom of their EU lovers in Labor or the lib dems. Thats probably more likely.

Even without the above, significant gains by UKIP would be seen as an endorsement of the results of the referendum.

>So far it seems like the eurosceptic Tory backbenchers are making sure the promises are kept, so it's all looking good.

I hope so. I was surprised Cameron went out and said re-evaluation of free movement in needed for a new deal with Britain post-Brexit. Let's see if this stance remains.

British politics has been dead since Thatcher/Reagan, and that is primarily because of the EU. When Thatcher's term was finally up, the EEC evolved into the EU, and British politics became a side show for the British people to beleive that they still had a democratic voice. The only notable thing between then and now, was Blair waging war with Bush.

We're finally a country where our internal politics matters again, not just internally, but externally.

So I am going to ask a Labour question.

> Labour MPs cannot force Corbyn out
>Change in party leadership requires a party vote

Can they call a "Snap" vote (and if so, who can call it) or do they have to wait till their annual meeting?
