>I also believe that even our flawed “founding fathers” did not want unlimited and unrestricted rights to bear arms. Even if they did advocate for unrestricted gun ownership, these are the same men who owned slaves, committed genocide against and expelled native peoples, withheld enfranchisement from women, engaged in and killed one another in duels, and so on. Actually, I’m really surprised the National Rifle Association hasn’t advocated for the return of lethal dueling matches. Maybe that’s next on their agenda.

Discuss.

Dueling is the only way two MEN can resolve a potentially lethal situation, while ensuring friends and family are left out of it, and leaving the survivor happy with the outcome, thus problem solved.

A la "let them fight", or in the words of Stalin; "...no man, no problem."

Dueling literally solves one of the biggest political problems of our age: over emotional political illiterates grandstanding. People won't argue political causes they're uninformed on when any hot tempered exchange could turn into "duel me" and a bullet through the heart. Bring back dueling.

>did not want unlimited and unrestricted rights to bear arms

That isn't in the law.

>Even if they did advocate for unrestricted gun ownership, these are the same men who....

Irrelevant to the text of the law.

Also, morality develops like technology, through small advances over time by each successive generation. You can't throw your hands up in righteous indignation about men who owned slaves in an era where slavery was legal on every continent and then be fucking perplexed as to why these guys did not live according to today's standards of morality.

Pro-tip: You cannot condemn the Aztecs for failing to develop vaccines, because they had not advanced that far scientifically. Similarly, you cannot look at 17th and 18th century American and marvel that the leaders of the continent did not utilize moral standards that were centuries away from developing.

It doesn't work that way.

>Actually, I’m really surprised the National Rifle Association hasn’t advocated for....

Nonsensical bullshit and strawmanning.

I think my discussion is pretty clear.

The Minuteman on the left had the most advanced weaponry and gear afforded to him by the time period, why would CURRENT YEAR be any different?

Such a retarded argument. It's like saying that since there was only a printing press in 1780, the 1st Amendment shouldn't apply to the Internet.

Also-
Everytime you get baited into visiting a "journalism" site, you are inadvertently giving pennies. Even with ad-blockers installed, the company uses visitor statistics to maintain relationships with their advertisers. Windows operating systems have a feature called the "hosts file" that will let you block these websites.

>The Windows Hosts file allows you to define which websites are linked to which IP addresses.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_(file)

Here is how to use it

Notepad
Open with admin privileges.

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
This is where your Hosts file is located. Open "hosts" (does not have an extension) with Notepad. If you utilize Spybot - Search & Destroy, you will see a very long list of unsafe domains already entered here. For your convenience, enter the following lines in at the top:

https://gist.github.com/ChimeraCoder/7495794
Spacing DOES matter in your host file, so ensure it looks like the example that is already in there. Some similar, clickbait-modelled sites to consider adding:

#Expanded list

127.0.0.1 rockpapershotgun.com
127.0.0.1 polygon.com
127.0.0.1 theverge.com
127.0.0.1 vox.com
127.0.0.1 games.on.net
127.0.0.1 pcgamer.com
127.0.0.1 fortune.com
127.0.0.1 cracked.com
127.0.0.1 neogaf.com
127.0.0.1 vice.com
127.0.0.1 wired.co.uk
127.0.0.1 wired.com

127.0.0.1 indiewire.com
127.0.0.1 dailymail.co.uk
127.0.0.1 theguardian.com

Save the file. The "Save As" dialog box will appear. Save this as "hosts_new".

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
1) Back in your \etc\ folder, rename your previous "hosts" file to "hosts_backup".
2) Rename the newly created file, "hosts_new.txt" to "hosts"

Congrats, no more accidentally giving pennies and view counts.

You are right unlimited and unrestricted rights to bear arms isn't in the law. The 2nd amendment only applies to the federal government, it's application to states is purely judge-made law.

ancestor veneration is something alien to progressives - regardless of how much they have benefited from the actions of their ancestors.

If they feel so strongly about the 2nd Amendment, they should propose a new amendment that would abolish it. Here's the process for doing that:

Article. V.

The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress.

Horseshit. James Madison was totally cool with people owning FUCKING CANNONS. Private merchant ships ran heavily armed, and Article I of the Constitution gives Congress the power to grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal. This gave ship captains the ability to go full on pirate for the United Fucking States of America. In other words, owning FUCKING BATTLESHIPS is totally cool.
