I don't think I would have a hard time adjusting. I visit frequently and I love the pace of life there. I live in Detroit and always visit Windsor. It's almost as slow moving as life in a smaller place here, like Traverse City where I'm originally from, except it seems less shitty. It has the same level of comfiness except the transportation is better, things just seem better thought out. More places to eat, more places to visit, less tourists. You get tax credits based on what you paid for your tuition, what you paid for your student loan, what you paid for your student loan interest, etc.
For national I believe you get 2x credits for what you paid in tuition, for provincial it's 1x (in AB anyway). Basically you subtract those credits from whatever you paid toward CPP, EI, and income tax up to a certain level during your backtaxes and you get all that money back that you gave up on your paycheck.
So you know how they subtract a bunch of money on every paycheck you receive? You going to school ensure you'll get a large some of that back due to backtaxes. Doing a backtax isn't necessary of course, you can forward tax it if you know for sure you'll get that money back, but when you do your taxes if you did your forward tax incorrectly then your back tax will be a payment toward the government.
I once did a forward tax and calculated it wrong and charged the government an excess of $1000 and had to pay it back. Ever since I've only ever done back taxes.
